One thing i have seen another player do:
Run 2 chainrings that are quite close in teeth (you'll have to do some experimenting) run the smaller chainring on the outside, so when in polo mode, the chain itself acts as a guard against the bigger exposed ring.
Could always do that and chuck a bashguard on as well, to protect your chainset. I'd deffo go down the triple chainset route.
I need to run a funny gear combo on my polo bike, 38 and 46, and although there are road doubles that I can do that on, I also need a bash guard. Does anyone run a road double with a bashguard on the outside of the big ring? With super-long chainring bolts and washers maybe? Is that even possible?
Alternately, are there triples that I could get 38 and 46 and a guard on?
FYI- This is so I can have a 38/25 (38 GI) ratio for polo and a 46/16 (71.5 GI) for the road. That's the same length chain for both, flip/flop.
