Bicycle Tyre Belt

Everytime I take off old, worn out tyre of the wheel I'm thinking one day I will make a belt out of this. Never got to do it. Now I've got some spare time and I'm sitting here making one out 28 randonneur. Here I've found a little video

I hace one made from an MTB tyre, its a right royal pain in the arse to remove.
Not great for airport security. Road tyres would be best.

it's a lot better if you wear a belt, that you made yourself rather, than buying, I guess.

yeah i did, it was a bit shit to be honest! although i had skidded all the way down to the canvas and through the tyre in one spot so it was quite stretchy. it only took about 10 minutes, youd might as well give it a go

I think a few people have done this. One of the volunteers at the bike recycling place where I work makes belts, tool pouches, saddlebag-type-pouches, all sorts of stuff out of recycled tyres. In Newcastle though, so not much help to you.

You dont need to get it riveted, i made one with an old buckle and a chainring bolt. Ive been using it about a year, with the weight of a lock on it without any problems

Get some nice brass buckles from Batchelors, Culford Mews, off Balls pond road, has rivets and stuff if you want
