Make it into a bar stool and sell it for mad $$$$
-
• #4
cor what a beaut though bet you were gutted!
-
• #5
Ouch, was that one of the genius ones?
-
• #6
Yeah, Genius. I was fucking gutted. Everyone was like "are you ok, are you ok?!" and I was "My bike, my fucking bike! I've KILLED IT!" My friends have no sense of priority. Miserable.

• #7
what are you replacing it with?
I'm the same, first thing you check when you crash is your bike, flesh heals, steel dont.

I was going to get the same thing again, and wait for the right size to come up, but then figured that as I had a very nice 531 frame that was fixified, I would throw the groupset from the Coppi on to that and save my money. Worked out nicely. Still feeling terrible about the destruction though. Why could this crash not have happened when I was on the fucking beater? A&E did some fine work on me and hopefully someone can do something productive with this frame...

I've had someone PM me about it and will update if he doesn't take it...

just wondering if this is still available

I'm so sorry for your loss.
-
• #12
It went to a good home last night - hopefully a salvage operation under way in the not too distant future!
-
• #13
Would be very impressive if it was revived!

Looking at that beautiful frame almost brought a tear to my eye. Heres hoping!
Its quite rare that I like a frame that isn't carbon and covered in logos...that was a real beaut :(

It shouldn't be a problem to get it rebuilt - it's just a question of the cost and the fact that some elements of the design would be lost, like the current lugs. If anyone knows of framebuilders who won't charge an arm and a leg, let me know and I can pass that on. The cheapest I got was from bikefix for 300 for replacement tubes.
I'm glad that someone is taking this on though - I was utterly miserable about doing this damage! -

The bloke who took the frame off me is getting it repaired, so hopefully there will be some pix of the restoration once it's complete. As Nick Cave once sang "Death is not the end".
A while back I had a crash and knackered the top tube and down tube of my Fausto Coppi frame. I did enquire about repair as part of the process of denial, rage, guilt etc that follows the destruction of something pretty, but given that it was two of the tubes that were fucked it did not seem worth it, although the rest of the bike is fine.
However, someone on here may have the inclination or resources to do something useful with this, be it repair, or conversion into some off-beat furniture.
Pick up in Stoke Newington on an evening.
