WWwaaaaa are you supposed to chemically strip aluminium in an enclosed space? Breathe on.......

After a bath in NaOH....which is very corrosive,so is the frame still safe?....What effect would NaOH have on the glue that keeps the tubes, lugs and dropouts etc together.

She did it very carefully (apart from doing it in a small enclosed space!), that's why it took her so long. After every small application of caustic soda solution she rinsed it with lots of water so the NaOH didn't have time to corrode the metal or get into the joints. The frame is still safe, she's been riding it every day for 12 months since she stripped it.

Any chance you could post to Bristol? How much would that be? Got in a crash with a nice chap who drove out in front of me on Sunday and smashed up my Vitus 979 :(

Be better to start your own thread....get through to more people....just a thought!
Selling this on behalf of the Mrs.
Its stamped 52/54 but is more like 53/53
The main part of the frame was originally a beautiful anodised red but she spent ages, against my advice, stripping this off (nearly choking to death on the fumes in our tiny bathroom) "so it doesn't look so flashy" (I know)
Now it's raw aluminium (which has now gone dull and patchy) this could be painted or polished back shiny if you can be arsed, or you might love it how it looks now, as my Mrs does. The forks are rear triangle are still clear anodised although the chainstays are blotchy where the sodium hydroxide she stripped the frame with has dripped onto them.
No dents of dings or deep scratches, some surface scratches.
Comes with specialized headset and unknown BB
£75
Can email photo if interested
Collect from E8 or can meet most places in London
