A 1961 (I think) Viking Grand Tour frameset. 23" x 22.5". Reynolds 531 throughout. I am selling frame, forks, seatpost and headset only - other parts shown not included - though I can include the long-reach Weinmanns if you like for an extra tenner.

Built for 27" wheels of course - is pictured with 700s fitted, hence the offer of the brakes...

Paintwork is not great but no deep rust, everything straight and true. Very small dent on top tube. Should be resprayed really - look at those lovely lugs!

    NOW SOLD

  • Hi man, how is the condition of the bottom bracket and the headset? Also, what's the rear spacing? Thanks.

  • Headset has new bearings in it and is nice and smooth. Since photos were taken bottom bracket has been removed, but can be reinstalled if required but note bracket pictured is for cottered crankset. Cups are in good nick. (British) threads on shell are a-ok as well.

  • Oh, rear spacing has been cold-set to 130.

  • Will be in London next weekend, so now for collection, and price drop.

  • Has this gone ??

  • No, still available. I thought someone was going to have it but they've gone quiet now...

  • Man, that sure is purdy. Do you know if it's straight gauge or double-butted? And are those wrap-over seat stays? Cheers

  • Not sure whether the tubing is butted or not I'm afraid. I suspect not, but I don't know. There's not a huge amount of info about old vikings out there that I can find...
The seatstays are not wrapover, I'm afraid. Wasn't that the preserve of the old Falcons?

  • That's interesting, I'm not sure about that. I've seen a few English frames from the late 50s - early 70s that used them, maybe to emulate Falcon. The big names were never quite able to though, they had a tendency to make them rather chunky! If anyone can shed any light on this that'd be great, I do love me a nicely wrapped-over seat stay...
Right now I'm in no position to buy this but if its still knocking about come mid December I might take it off your hands. It is gorgeous though, someone should snap it up. Best of luck with the sale!

  • Has it gone yet ?

  • Not yet, no. Never got round to ebaying...!

  • where are you based ?

  • Between bristol and london...as in both bristol and london, not andover, or slough...

  • ok, how much you looking posted ?

  • If this hasn't gone yet, would you consider separating the forks? And if so, how much would you want for them?

  • No, I don't want to split, sorry - in no great hurry.

  • Now £65 posted or £55 collected from Bristol or delivered to London this weekend.

  • Now SOLD

  • No worries - Bent the steerer on my 1960s Viking forks so I'm looking for a replacement. Was just trying my luck! Glad you found a buyer - they got a very good deal! It's a beautiful frame.
