  • Anybody out there looking for a functioning loop framed bicycle - either for riding or display purposes? It's a Raleigh - possibly Edwardian or from the 20s and definitely vintage. Please get in touch for specs and photos if it's the sort of thing you're after.

  • price ?

  • McCarty would love this!

  • thats amazing.

  • price ?

    +1

  • Was hoping someone in the know would make me an offer after being given the detailed specs. Ok, I'll check what loop framed bikes are going for on here, factor in the age and come up with a price.

  • 28" Raleigh Roadster tyres; K hub at rear with prototype Sturmey Archer gear lever at handlebar. I've looked at a few catalogues from 1910 to the early 30s and it looks like a Raleigh Lady's Special. Saddle is Brooks B83. Gearing connected, but requires a bit of expertise. Everything moving and working.

  • That's in really nice nick.

You should get more than a ton really. Specially now there's another Tweedy Run coming.

  • Point taken - let's see how we go with £120+£5 for the Forum.

  • That's reet pretty that.

  • anyone got anything simular to this but for a male?

  • errr....I do. Or rather, I where u can get one. It might take a couple of days to get photos and specs from him tho

  • ooh thats nice. Rear mudguard is great.

  • It's not the same as this one http://oldbike.wordpress.com/1910-raleigh-ladies-light-weight-no-17-bicycle/ but very similar - I have a 1930s ladies raleigh and yours looks more like the 1910 one than it does mine

  • "gear lever"...does it have gears? what might be the frame size?

I would love to have one of these to restore--unfortunately I live in the States, and there are none available here. Is there any way I could have a London friend look at this for me if it is still available? I'm intrigued!

  • It's 3 speed with prototype Sturmey Archer barrel adjust lever at the handlebar. Hard to determine frame size in the usual terms because whilst the seat tube can be measured, the bike is so upright that it's easier to say that the bike would suit riders of average height and above. Certainly your friend can look it over - but, apart from the gears, there is very little restoration required.

  • Errol, If it's in good shape and doesn't really need anything done, that's even better. I'd pretty much assumed anything vintage would need tinkering! I'm about 5'7 so I guess that's about average??? I'm currently riding a three-speed, which is just perfect--on a single-speed I'd be walking more than riding (we have a few hills here). I'd love to purchase it. Let me email a few friends in London and see if anyone might be available next week to drop by. They are furniture dealers--if it looks suitable for me they could handle the purchasing, packing etc. I am selling a vintage violin this week, so it couldn't be better timing!

  • Errol,
I've talked with my London folks and getting them to look at the bike would be no problem, but getting it from there to here might run me a bit more than I can do at the moment. Your price is great though for someone local--if I were still in London, I would be on it in a heartbeat! Best of luck! Emily

  • Ok no interest here so I'll advertise elsewhere. Thread closed.
