• Hi all,

Being unable to ride brakeless, I unfortunately have to sell a beautiful genuine Raleigh track fork I got from buying a Raleigh track frame off the forum. Frame is from the 70's. Fork is 1" threaded with a steerer tube length of 22cm. These are getting pretty rare, bit gutted I have to sell it but I can't see the point of keeping something I will never be able to ride - and would have been a shame to drill it - so rather make someone from the forum happy (and some extra £ in my pocket).

Tubing is Reynolds (still doing some research to find out whether it's 501 or 531).
The fork is in great condition, only a couple of minor scratches near the drop outs and headset, but nothing that can be seen without being close to it. It has been powdercoated in black by Armortex before I bought the frame, and hasn't been ridden since.

    Price: looking at £75 ONO

i will keep the fork on the forum for a weekish - then off to the bay as I need to clear that one out before going on holidays.

    Dibs followed by PM please.

Any questions - let me know. Fork can be checked and/or collected from Angel/Old Street area.

  • Man up and ride brakeless.

  • Brakes are gay.

    what you meant?

    (:

  • right knee broken twice in the last 5 years = impossible to ride brakeless

  • sorry, my response was a joke for DLB, I think using a brake is a great idea. Good luck with the sale.

  • I don't see the point in finding it a waste to drill it.. If you do in nicely, you can enjoy it yourself.. Also, it having a double crown means you got enough material to play with right? Get access to a pillar drill, measure twice, drill once.. Just my 2p..

  • ha, fair enough Malaysian.

Well I think it's a bit of a waste as the fork wasn't originaly meant to be drilled, so I am not very keen with the idea of drilling a hole in it. Plus the possibility of messing it up, I'd rather sell it to someone who will use it they way it was supposed to. As it's quite rare as well that would have been a shame to make it lose some of its value.

But again I might be wrong all the way...though finding a very nice chromed/drilled fork that rides like a dream didn't convince me on the drilling solution.

  • Get a clamp on brake?

  • hmmm I've tried the Dia Compe ones on a mate's bike and found them a bit sketchy, just don't feel stiff enough. Even if that sounds superficial, they are ugly as f. (and cost a testicle)

  • Don't suppose you have a clamp on to sell? Might prefer it to drilling mine, maybe...

  • nop and mate's not selling his. check hubjub, they are selling some cheaper than the Dia Compe ones but description sounds a bit ominous...

  • SOLD to Crows.
