Anyone had dealings with bike-vintage.com

  • Anyone know anything about bike-vintage.com or had any dealings with them. They seem to have a lot of quite nice stuff, but I have not come accross them before so thought it best to check.

  • If it's legit, some of the stuff looks good.......
    possibly nice find!

  • But then we get raped for import duties.

  • Looks from details that taxes are paid, so it should just be the price you see, but I am not sure about the EU and their rules! Maybe worth trying out a cheapo purchase.

  • America rarely quotes prices including tax.

    #justsayin'

  • This place is in Poland

  • As it's EU then no extra tax. You pay only in the country the order ships from. Rose bikes (Germany) works this way and lets you grab a bargain or two.

  • Is it just me or do they have a LOT of high-polished parts? I think there's a joke in there somewhere.

Tried TinEye on some of their pictures and got no result, so at least the photos seem to be their own.

They only accept credit card, bank transfer and Western Union. Not Paypal. Something to think about.

  • Feb 2009 was the first post mentioning them so they've been around at least that long.

  • Would I be naive to think this is really for sale for $300?

  • In general, he's far too expenive.
But if you have to make a living, you have to ask prices that are a lot higher.

  • there's 1 particular frame I am very interested in on his website. Don't want to say which incase someone else buys it, but it doesn't seem overpriced at all.

  • Did you think that Somec was over priced? Seems to have sold now anyway.

Either buy it, or tell us which one it is.

  • nope

  • Just got confirmation that the Somec F&F is sold. If you want to get in touch with them direct, this is the email address I received notification from: parts@bike-vintage.com

  • The person about to reply does appear to be from Poland and the people in question.

  • Good job Sumo kept which frame he wants to himself. Otherwise - price hike!

    wwwbikevintagecom - welcome to LFGSS.

    Hello,
I am an owner of bike-vintage and want to tell you that I pay tax in Poland so if you are from EU then you do not have to pay any fees, also I can ship as a gift and under value

If you think that price is too high, I'm open to suggestions

  • Even better.

  • there's one thing
Imagine Hilary Stone blocks his website for users from UK. Bollocks? Cunt?
Actually that's what bike-vintage is doing, his website cannot be accessed from Poland (you would have to use proxy). When I asked why I was told it's none of my business.
Of course he can run his business anyway he wants but he's ditching his own country in the name of profit.
So I'm not going to tell you buy or don't but to take this fact into consideration - this guy is being an a*hole to his countrymen.

Yes I do not accept paypal because I do not trust this institution, when I sell via ebay paypal blocked my money (about 4,000 USD) for 6 months with no reason and no explanation.. additionally paypal and ebay cost me about 20%
now I use moneybookers (europen version of paypal more safty for user because moneybookers is Authorised by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) under the Electronic Money Regulations 2011 for the issuing of electronic money )
so you can pay by credit card via "https" gateway
