Odd that something as pretty in the first picture looks as bad as it does mounted.

Try re-truing one of them after your first ride...
Win for the art world. Fail for the bike world. No grip, dangerous cornering, heavy.
Jus sayin... -

i do hope you can get pit-locks for all those wing-nuts

I quite fancy a stained glass disc wheel.

Arad's a genius.
Fuck it, I'd try 'em.

Not as good at this

Its a tweel

The springs are connected to each other, so unlike the Tweel (I read about that years ago but haven't heard any applications of it yet) it looks as if it would go some way towards spreading load through the whole wheel, rather than concentrating it in one place as most airless-tyre/wheel designs seem to do. Obviously with current materials it won't come close to a dunlop tyre, but it's nice to research anyway.
I don't know if Arad is much of an engineer so this might just be unintentional.

hahahahah thats a great idea that is love it, lol hahahaha

The tensioned spoked wheel is a fucking marvellous invention. Arad why not design a computer interface that doesn't give you RSI, a binbag that doesn't disintegrate when I need to remove it frpm the bin, a sock that doesn't smell, a saddle that doesn't hurt. No need to reinvent the wheel. It doesn't even have a smooth running surface ffs. Those bumpy bulges don't look good.

I'm not in any way defending Arad's wheel thingy (which seems to be a piece of boutique art rather than a piece of useful everyday design... like most of his stuff) but just because an excellent wheel already exists, there's no reason not to research or experiment with new ideas - someone might just come up with something better.
As for computer interfaces that don't give you RSI, I hope to be working on that one soon.

What, no*crabónne fribé???

What, no ¢rabon fibre¡!??
Would LOVE to see an attempt to make it using crabónne fribé... wouldnt last 1 mile though...
As far as the computer interface thingy - think you'll find a mind powered one has been in development for a couple of years now. Think about where you want you cursor > cursor goes there etc..
Exciting stuff

One of these.... made from carbon fibre... wouldn't last to the end of the road without a tyre..
S'all I'm saying.. -

beautiful curves held together with butterfly bolt? gtfo, should have been neatly rivetted. Then consigned to the 'nice but dim' pile.
