Cone wrench size

  • Don't suppose anyone knows off hand the size of a cone wrench needed for a front formula hub ? Mines a bit loose after trashing the bike over the weekend :)

  • Use a set of calipers to measure the cones, or hold up open ended spanners and see which comes closest.
If your aiming to buy cone spanners online, avoid like FUCK the (often not) cheap 'Cyclo' cone spanners* that have about 4 different sizes on them. £3 online, £10 in halfrauds, and they are genuinely bollocks. Buy park, pedros, fat spanner or CRC brand-X. And buy set sizes, not several sizes in one tool.

*I had decent pedros spanners at home, but wanted something lightweight to take on multi-day trip. Should have just taken the proper jobs as the cyclo ones were unbelievably bad.

  • yeah I'll try with spanners to work it out. Will get the park ones, I like their tools.

    Thanks :)

  • Park tools are shit now. They seem to have changed factory or something. We won't buy any more park tools for the workshop again :(

  • 15mm and 17mm, nice and metric.*

    *Just measured with calipers

  • dbr, awesome! Thanks for doing that.

moonshinewilly, I just need some for my personal use, any other recommendations ?

  • pedro's are always good. there is a standard quality and a workshop quality (harder to get), i think the standard yellow handle are generally deemed better than park tools standard (domestic use) quality.
