  • The cold weather is approaching and I'm looking for jeans that are a close fit around the shin/ankle that I don't have to tuck into my socks or roll up. I remember riding in the snow and some bitterly cold days last year with a bare right leg where I'd rolled up my baggy Volcoms to stop them getting in the chain. It was COLD!

Yeah I know, I should HTFU but I've experienced 'true cold', windsurfing at Edgbaston in November, so prefer to avoid variations of it where I can.

Anyone found some jeans that work for them? Where did you get them?

  • Trouser clips?

  • thermal cycling tights

  • Can't help you there I'm afraid. I came out the womb, in a lycra skinsuit.

  • Maybe I over-emphasised the cold aspect. It's not really an issue yet

Thanks Japseye but I should have mentioned I don't want to use clips either. I'm just looking for some jeans that are slim enough round the leg not to need tucking, rolling or clipping.

I could go to any high street mens clothing shop and buy some skinny jeans but chances are they'd be built for fashion (with accompanying price tag) shit for cycling and wear out in no time flat, hence my asking for experiences.

  • H+M do a fit called 'drain' that I buy every winter.
They last the whole season, are reasonably slim fitting, have a highish rise and they have lycra in them. £25.

    You're welcome ;)

  • Get some thermals and jeams from Primark. Sorted.

Thanking you, sounds like just the job

Swrve WWR full length - not jeans, but fit the bill otherwise

I have a pair of their jeans too, but have to tuck of use leg grip

  • Cheers Shannon, the swrve trousers have a great spec! Still might be a bit loose round the bottom for me though and not sure i want to spend £85. I might fall off!

  • loose - round - bottom

    Sorry, you were saying?

  • Closer fitting than skinny jeans = tights.

Perhaps it's time to get the winter socks out?

PM me for a discount code (15%) if you fancy going for any swerve stuff. It is very good.

  • I got some skinny fits from topman, thing is they aren't actually that skinny fit. Perfect for riding in as they are stretchy aswell

  • Perhaps it's time to get the winter socks out?

Last season I was mostly wearing

black jeans rolled up to the knee with purple football socks underneath. Strong look

  • I'll try topman too, cheers dlb

  • ^^ Hipster

  • Im sure i saw hyper rockin a homemade jegging/jean combo last winter...

  • I got some skinny jeans from Uniqlo recently that are quite stretchy. I use them for cycling and they work really well. £20ish I think.

  • Get some skinnys on!! You drainpipe head!!

  • Second the stretchy jeans - Last winter I wore a cheapy pair with long johns underneath - And some waterproofs in the bag incase it got really wet. Kept me warm enough 10 miles each way

  • I've just got a pair of those levi's commuter jeans. They would probably be perfect for what your looking for. Only problem is that I don't think they've started selling them in the UK just yet.

  • Lidl has some decent waterproof winter cycling gloves at the moment. £3.99

  • Which lidl? Where? Do they have other cycling stuff too? I've been waiting for so long! So long...

  • It's all about the confidence.
