Conveting track axles to female axles

Posted on
  • Just wondering if anyone has tried this before or if it's even possible, I'd like to convert my current track axles to a female bolt in or QR on my halo hubs, so I don't have to carry a spanner all the time and make the bike look a but tidier. If someone had experience or could point me in the right direction it would be most appreciated

  • There was something about this in the polo bikes thread the other day
    goes off to find

Post #6221 onward might be some help, although i think they're discussing the reverse to you question (QR to track axle)

  • Thanks for taking the time to look for me Stu F this was very useful :)

  • You could certainly replace the axles with hollow ones, not too sure how successful (or expensive?) it would be to drill and tap the existing solid ones?

  • For drilling and tapping you'd need a lathe with auto-feed, no?

  • The halo ones you get are hollow but I don't think you could get a skewer throughout there
