    nice one, Jacqui.

Only problem is the zip code bit doesn't seem to allow me to enter. Ho hum!

  • Went to the Covent Garden RL shop today to purchase Tweed Run gear and support the cause.

Well made items and great fitting.

Quite nice but pricey, and in fact twice as much as the same pieces if bought in the States.

So I ended up ordering what I wanted from the US online shop.

Does a percentage of sales go to the Tweed Run charity?

  • A shame - delving into the prize draw small print and it says it's only open to U.S. residents, apart from people living in Rhode Island for some reason.

  • @peter c - the london version will be open to UK residents.

  • Ralph and FMTY?

    Baller!

  • Looks like you can now get 25% off items on Rugby.com

You'll still need a US shipping address.

Maybe the rule is due to some historic anomaly: I gather it was a somewhat unusual and outcast state back in the C17th/18th: it was last of the east coast states to join the union, home to pirates and irreligious freethinkers. The name may be a derivation of 'Rogue's Island', I believe.

Best of luck with the NY event. You guys have done a pretty amazing thing with Tweed Run & Co.

  • Rhode Island Slut

  • bleeker st ffs.. oh how times have changed in greenwich village.. :(
is 'save the robots' still going?

    'French', 'Britishness', and 'English'. :)

  • According to Twitter, The New York Tweed Run is cancelled!

    What happened?

  • I'm going to ride to Monticello instead... But sounds like there are still some good things to do at University Place for those in town.

Guessing it was some sort of permit thing?

    Dear friends,

The originally scheduled Tweed Run will not be taking place on Saturday, October 15th. But all is not lost, please join the Tweed Run Marshalls for small group rides throughout the day. Enjoy live entertainment, tea by Jeeves & Jericho, biscuits by Woolmark, ice cream by Van Leeuwen, barber grooming by Murdock Barbers, saddle polishing by Brooks, a Pashley bike raffle to support the World Bicycle Relief, prize giveaways, antique photo booth, and contests for best dressed and best moustache on Saturday between 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Rugby store located at 99 University Place at 12th Street.

Judging for best dressed will take place throughout the day, and best moustache contest will occur at 1 p.m. with group photos.

We hope to see you there and don’t forget your tweed!

      Team Tweed Run

What a shame. Hope people still have a great day of it!

And here's to red tape being overcome next year, if that's the reason for the cancellation.

  • The wife and kid are landing in NYC in one hour.

I don't know how to break the news to them.

  • @dmc - I wouldn't want to make that call.

  • *So what happened? *

We’re very very sad to not be able to put on the Rugby Tweed Run New York, as planned for Saturday 15 October.

*Were advised by New York authorities that Saturday will see a huge day of City-wide gatherings in support of the *Occupy Wallstreet* protest. *

We decided it was in the best interest of both the city and the participants to not contribute to this.

  • It's just a shame it wasn't an 'Occupy Wool Street' protest or the Tweed Run would have fitted right in.

  • It's just a shame it wasn't an 'Occupy Wool Street' protest or the Tweed Run would have fitted right in.

    The punmeister strikes again!

I'm really gutted for the U.S. Tweedsters, and for Jacqui and Ted.

So much work, so many hours.

But it has to be said, if your ride is going to be ruined by anything, this is a great cause. I'm totally behind it. I don't agree with turning the Tweed Run political, but it must be bloody tempting!

Hope it all goes well for everyone on the day.

  • Aram - did you break the NY Tweed Run?
