  • Not currently for sale as doing some more detective work regarding the frame!

  • Lovely!

  • Stan Pike [RIP] was possibly one of the greatest [some might say the greatest of all] British frame builder...this is one of the best frames to appear on this forum in my opinion.....just glad it is too big for money.....beautiful squared.....no make that cubed!....Good luck with the sale....shame you have to sell it.

  • thanks for the compliments - i thought it would be sweet with the dura ace wheels (never ridden tubs before) and they float along like magic!, dura ace rear mech and shifter, 600 calipers / levers and post. topped off with cloth bar tape and cages/clips....

  • This was one of the gems of the Reg Harris day, was glad and yet so very sad this didn't fit me..

    Bump for some class.

  • a real beauty, are those the original forks?

  • hi, no - not the original forks.
i think that a pair of white forks would really set it off nicely
Open to offers on the frame / wheels etc .
    Cheers!

  • oh. my. fkn. dayz.

i will happily marry whoever buys this on the off chance that i might get it as part of the innevitable divorce settlement.

  • oldmutha - are those the OG decals on there?

  • Hi,
looks to me like they're fresh decals - not sure of the history of the frame but it sure is nice - i'm getting the BB taken out to look at the finishing of the tubes as he was evidently a stickler for precise /brazing/finishing...
Also has an engraved "P" on the downtube/heatube lug.

  • it looks like a lovely piece of work and i'm amazed nobody has snapped this up yet.

    /has a s.pike - not in any way biased.

  • hey catfood - are there any other identifiers on your frame? ie: is there a P engraved on any lugs - ie. downtube/headtube?

doing a bit of research on this frame but not a lot of info out there...
    Cheers
    J

  • sadly not - and info is pretty thin on the ground regarding the man - other than the fact that he used to build helicotpers and was a fan of silver brazing. the good people at 'classic rendezvous' and a number of other forum luminaries far more knowledgeable than myself may be able to help you.

/fwiw the SP in question http://www.lfgss.com/thread42044.html
    #showoff

  • my knowledge of Stan Pike as amember of cycling clubs from the 80's onwards is that they were very much sought after. Everyone wanted one of them, a Hetchins or a Flying Scot. Someone should buy it.

  • Oh catfood you tart, showing off your own SP indeed!
    Ahem...http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1228947#1228947
