Cinelli Gazzetta Opinions

  • I've been looking for a new frame and have come across the Gazzetta. I haven't found much out about them, customer opinions etc, has anyone tried or own one?

If so what are the clearances like on the bike?

Is there any similar alternatives around the £500 mark, I'm quiet flexible on that price though.

    Thanks

  • I own one and love it!! In the photo it is running a 25c rear tyre and a 23c front but you would just be able to fit a 25 on the front. Its very nice to ride but alot different to the surly it replaced, steeper angles shorter rake on the fork are the reason.
The frame is still quite comfortable on rougher terrain(gravel paths, gentle bridal ways) the only problem i have had with the bike is mud/leaves/stones getting stuck up behind the fork but that is when riding off road and the bike isn't really designed for that?!

    Here it is;

  • The Cinelli is nice, and better than the 2010 model IMHO due to better steel. Lots of options at that price point though. £450 Condor Potenza in Deda 12.5, £420ish Bob Jackson in 631, £475 new Brother track frame in 631, the new Tokyo Fixed s2 in Thron is only £350, and is very nice, though speaking to them on Saturday, I think almost sold out.

All of these are similar grades of steel, and all are similar frames. Not sure where the Cinelli is made, I suspect Taiwan like the TF and Brother, the BJ is made in the UK and the Condor in Italy. The question is, which do you like the most? I'd be very tempted by the Condor or the Brother.

The frame looks really sleek and simple.

Whats the clearance between the front tyre and the bridge of the fork like?

I'm going to do a bit of research into each of those, the pictures of the Condor look beautiful.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the Iro frames? I know there slightly cheaper, but I was just wondering about the geo of them and material used.

  • I don't have any experience with them but general consensus seems to be that they're ok. For the price though I'd rather go with the TF F2, it will be much nicer (and lighter) than the Iro and not that much more expensive, you'll still be well below your initial budget.

  • Iro's are great frames and they build up into comfortable, stiff, solid no-nonsense bikes... I've got a mark V, which I rode solidly for 2 years, been in the cellar for a while but I'm going to make it my winter fixed beater.

  • I'm going to the restrap launch at Tokyo fixed so I'll check out their frames when I'm there, but from the pictures the F2 looks like really nice.

Is there any stores over here that stock Iro's? I'm london based but I guess I can travel.

  • Is the best bike for good money...

  • Why do you see this frame not more often? I'm thinking about buying one but I'm not completely sure.. Anyone experience with this frame?

  • We've just received the new coloured Gazzetta in the shop, 'Rosso'. It's really beautiful. Pretty smooth welds and nice dropouts. It's made in Taiwan ;)

  • I can't find anything about Rosso, do they have a website? I can buy the Gazzetta new in Rotterdam for 410 euro, I think that's a pretty good deal right?

I'd guess its two things; 1) price, and 2) 1 1/8 headtube on a retro bike when the market for it would probably rather have a old fashioned quill.

Personally I really like them. Very nice clean modern but classic looking frame.

  • This is it,

But in flesh it is really sparkling. If you're in the netherlands than you could buy the one we have :) It's a 55 size, pm me when interested.

  • That sure looks good. But I'm gonna need an xxl. What shop do you work at? I live nearby Alkmaar.

  • Too bad, 't Rennershuis in Leeuwarden :)
We're official dealer of Cinelli, which I'm really stoked of haha :)

  • I've got one in blue, beautiful, simple bike. Should last a good while, but I did manage to bend the forks a little...

  • I've ridden a Gazzetta and a Surly Steamroller, both are great frames but if anything i'd have the Surly Steamroller over the Cinelli

  • I digging the topic a bit,

any more opinions? There was some frames on sale, maybe there is also some comments on it?

    Cheers

  • I've just start riding mine again after a couple of years of it being in bits. I didn't get along with it to start off with, but I'm really enjoying it now.

They come up larger then the size suggests and as other people have said its an aggressive frame with a bit of toe over. Mines currently got 25s on it and there isn't any problems clearance.

  • thank you! I will consider getting one myself :)

  • Not impressed with the new fork.

  • Wife has owned one of these for 3-4 years. They are great if you build them up with quality kit.
