You could pedal up small hills?
We might cross over. I'm hoping to be cycling from Braintree to Drinkstone, near Bury St Edmund's. -

looks lovely! towards the end, i'd take a left turn from trumpington to Granchester then cycle on the path along the cam if you're not in a major rush to finish (there may be some gravly bits at end of path though)..

Another way to avoid the A10 is to turn right to Little Shelford, under the M11, R@T, L down Church St, L@T (onto Bridge Lane), L onto A1301, R onto Granham's Road (just before humpback bridge), over the train tracks and straightaway left onto the 'DNA' cyclepath all the way to the back of Addenbrooke's, then just take Hills Road into town.
Have done London to Cambridge on 74" with no problems, and that was the hillier route via Elmdon.

Thanks for the replies, will there be anything steeper than Ladbroke Grove?

^^
You can get from Addenbrookes into town now using the cycle path alongside the guided busway to the railway station. Just before the new Laboratory of Molecular Biology turn left over bridge and at 'T' turn right to the station. Quiet and traffic free
I'm cycling singlespeed to Cabridge from London via this route, my gearing is as follows 47teeth on the crank and 16 on the rear, am I going to be walking up any hills, or is this gearing alright?
This is the planned route
