Ditch the 1" stuff. Its a royal pain, and in the end never works out very good value as you need so many of the plates to make a decent weight, plus the diameter is wrong for deadlifting etc.
All in all they kinda suck. Just my 2pence. Good luck with your knee. I also used barbell squats for a similar purpose. Knee is pretty much as good as new, despite tearing meniscus and cruciate ligaments.

I appreciate the advice - am keeping half an eye open for an olympic setup.. but that needs more space (and $$$s) than I have at home.
Will make do for now.Would also be happy to accept weights on loan, for those people who are too attached to material things and good intentions.

Check your garages please.
I found a couple of small plates being used as doorstops by my brother...
replaced them with wadges of cardboard.
Hi all.
I have very recently started doing free weight squats to strengthen my dodgy knee.
All is going well! So well in fact, that I need moar iron to keep progression in line with my 5 meals a day eating plan.
Don't need any other bits, just any one inch fitting cast iron weight plates that are >= 5kg (prefer 10, 15s)
Got any lying around? Can exchange for golden nuggets or cleaning services.
