Thanks for stating whereabouts you are guys, this will no doubt help with organising the first ride(s). It would be good if anyone else who posts could do so as well, cheers

I'm no longer in essex but am basildon born and raised so wouldn't mind seeing more essex based stuff.

Brentwood here. Apart from the Essex Afterworkers crew, I am yet to spot any other fixed or SS riders. Sub-forum sounds like a good idea - I'd definitely be up for a group ride.

Hey, grew up in Colchester. Pretty rare that I go back there now (parents live in the Lake District now), but good to know. I am planning to ride out to see a friend in Glemsford soon, a small village on the north border of Essex.

Is this where I have to say that by very Easts I mean I'm on the East London/Essex border?
-

Ilford here. Even though it says Essex in my address, I'm more London than 'Essex'.

Born in Upminster live in Hammersmith. Own a house in Brentwood (which is currently empty if anyone wants to rent it PM me - shameless plug, I know). I'd LOVE to see more stuff out in the wilds of this fine county apart from the dogging sites around South Weald Park and Epping Forest.

Live in Brentwood, would be up for some rides and stuff.

Grew up in Gt Dunmow (not Essex-born though), and went to school in Chelmsford. Hated every minute of it.
Still ride out that way a lot, and have been doing so on a phixeh bike for eons. Will keep an eye on developments - don't get out for drinks much, but the odd ride, yes :)

I live in Shenfield by the way

I have absolutely no association with Essex beyond having been doing the Essex Afterworkers for a couple of months. But I've become very fond of riding around there so will join you for rides if you make them happen. If I'm allowed.

I was going to mention something about a sub-forum in the afterworkers thread but realised it was just a good place to ride to for you and there was no connection. You're more than welcome, yeah

Do you mean Chelmsford?
The polo sessions have stopped happening for the moment due to various personal reasons of the people involved. Really need 6 people who are dedicated enough to play every week or so to make it work.

Sub-forum has been approved, should be appearing soon

Hi, I'm in Billericay and would be interested if there's anything local happening
-

How about a group ride this weekend to get everyone on first name terms?
Going by the comments on here a starting place that would suit most could be Billericay, that way the few from Brentwood and Basildon can ride towards each other and meet in the middle, then ride up to north of Chelmsford (maybe stop at Hanningfield res on the way) to meet those from Braintree and Dunmow.
Weather forecasts are conflicting at the moment but one day this weekend should be good apparently, day tbc.
So whos in?

Potentially in, depending on time. Free on saturday afternoon (hopefully going on club run that morning) and Sunday morning.

There must be enough of us to make this worthwhile, but it seems nobody has yet tried (apart from Sam91's group). From what I can find out by searching the forum there are plenty: 20 or more declared themselves in the 'Anybody here from Essex' thread and there are another 10-15 fixed riders who attended the Essex polo sessions that I started a while ago.
So could we have our own Sub-Forum listed alongside the cities on the front page?
If you support the idea help this thread get to the required 50 posts and I'll PM Velocio and ask him to create a sub-forum. I'll be proactive and organise as many meet-ups and rides as I can from then on.
