Sorry if there is already a thread to do with this, I'm on my phone which is dogshit for the interwebz.
Just been called by a mate who works for 5live and they've had reports of cyclists being attacked during the riots and he was wondering whether anyone I knew/from the forum had whitnessed/experienced this and would be prepared to talk to them.
As far as I know everyone I know personally is ok but thought I should a) mention this has been reported so people can be extra vigilant and b) if you have been unfortunate and been involved and want to talk about it just to say to pm me and I will pass on his details.
Ride safe, I still can't believe this shit is happening and just hope everyone is ok out there.

+1 had a few incidents in my teenage years, and 1on1 I would be happy enough (though still not exactly pleased about the situation) in taking them on/ sorting them out. But they don't fight like humans, more like feral dogs, in packs, with no rules or respect, for anything. Avoid like hell.

The tweet about bike mugging in London Fields has been retweeted ad infinitum. People are having picnics and skipping joyfully in the sun there right now.
It was a bit threatening early yesterday, around 5pm just after the lot that looted carharrt ran into the fields. There were about 40 odd hoodies some of them with large dogs. Was a bit stupid but I cycled through and wasn't giving them too wide a berth to not make it too obvious that I was wary of them. The tweets about bike muggings started about an hour after that...

get a length of armed cable about inch thick, two feet long, carry it with you when you ride.. in the event that you can't get away, strike hard and fast on the nearest cunt.. or spray C02 in their face, then show them your tattoes..
they will scatter..

I've now heard of three cyclist muggings in London Fields. Take the long route. Or take your beater.

2 guys tried to take me off my vintage look roadbike earlier in walthamstow around 4pm. Luckily I saw them early and when they lunged out I managed to swerve around them. Stay safe people!
