NPR, National Public Radio

  • Although I'm not the most American of Americans you've ever met (cue Canadian jokes here), I still love National Public Radio.

One of my favorite programes, This American Life, is replaying my very favorite show of theirs, The Break-Up.

    Here is the link, enjoy!

  • I used to love listening to NPR in LA. Literally the only radio in the States that gives you news and documentaries like what we are used to over here with Radio 4 and 5. The fucking weekly pledge drives asking for money used to drive me mental though!!!

  • They only do that about twice a year, but yep, annoying.

    Listening online helps with this.

  • thanks for the recommendation nhatt, i haven't listened to that one.
the iphone app for the show is brill, you can listen to anything from the (huge) archive whenever you like.

from memory, it was relatively expensive, for an app, but i choose to see it like donating...

  • TAL rocks
Ira Glass is a great host

  • not to mention a total hottie

    Also NPR, also freakin awesome!

  • This American Life is one of the best things in the world.

If you enjoy that, you may also enjoy the Planet Money Podcast, which is done by some of the TAL staff (some of the stories for Planet Money end up on TAL).

  • National Public Radio? PUBLIC? NATIONAL???

Get in the bunker kids, the Commies are here!

  • I am envious of anyone newly discovering TAL. I have listened to all of them, and some many times. Brilliant stuff. The Moth is also pretty amazing for story telling - http://themoth.org/

This. But I'm also angry at the dozens of people I've told over the years to listen to it who have never given it a go. If you read this, listen to a couple. They're all on the web page, and just choose a couple that sound interesting to you.
