For Sale: Witcomb Road Bike (geared)

Posted on
  • Beautiful example of a witcomb hand built bicycle. This is one of the last bikes built by Witcomb, and as such is a rare item. The bike has superb provence: it was purchased in a charity auction, organised by the Terrence Higgins Trust, and is named on the top tube with both the original purchasers name and "THT 2008". Auction details are here.

The bike is in excellent condition, around 500 miles on it. The paint is in ivory colour, with a band of the "Witcomb purple"(?), and absolutely no scratches/chips/damage. The frame measurements are (as best I can take them) 57cm for top tube and seat tube, measured c-c. Campag groupset, Mirage with Veloce chainset, and Khamsin wheels, but the real value in the bike is in the frame.

Rides beautifully, but it was an impulse buy and I just can't justify keeping it.

    Pictures are here

£800, collection from Central London or Walthamstow area, will deliver in Waltham Forest area.

    Any questions, please pm me!

  • Only 500 miles ???????? look at the chain and sprockets they are mightily greasy, and an odd back tyre, or am I being super cynical?

  • 800 nicker? your avin' a bubble

  • You have been PM'd

  • In Tom's defense - try buying a new lugged handmade in England road bike with campag (albeit mirage). See how much change you get from a grand.

  • Provisionally sold, subject to viewing.

    And cheers Narcotitlan :)

  • Sold

  • In view of demise of Witcomb brand, any of their Frames will now be extremely collectable. This was a bargain at £800. (I'd put the frame alone at a grand)

  • and an odd back tyre

Seems like a fancy colour scheme wheze based on blue and white, doesn't it?

I don't like odd tyre colours, either, but it's easily changed.
