  • What's it like? Critical Mass but with more day-glo jackets, photographers and advertising?

  • haha i was looking into it but couldn't make sense of their website before now. has anyone been before? i don't know if it will be like a family and kids event or not

  • It's pretty slow, and packed with Day-Glo It goes past Calthorpe Park where we'll be playing polo, so stop off for a chat when you go by..

  • I went last year and there were a lot of families, but it was still quite a good event.

It'll hopefully just be a less traumatic way of getting the weekend mileage in without battling traffic.

  • Wasn't there some ridiculous bottleneck on last years route in a shopping centre or something?

  • Stu F shut this thread down 6 hours ago.

  • It was in the markets Steve. The route was ridiculous. Despite working for BC, I think the event is a bit of a joke without even thinking about the sponsor. I'm only gutted because Andy's brother met Vicky Pendleton! So did anyone actually go?

  • I went along. It was pretty dire to be honest. Too many awful cyclists, and slow fat men in lycra thinking they're lance armstrong. It is safer on normal roads!! Worth it to see Victoria though! Hehe

  • I went along, it wasn't too bad though the route through the markets was pretty stinky at times
At the end of the event I did get asked by the stewards to ride on the pavement for my safety as they were about to open the roads - err no thanks I'll just carry on using the roads like I do when i ride on them every day!

THIS is why it's a complete joke. Did you tell them that was illegal and defeats the whole point?!

  • Far to many people who are awful cyclists, no bike handling skills or spatial awareness.
But it was still an alright day, saw pendleton, did a few laps with my mates who weren't really into cycling but now want to get into more, I'd say that was a positive.

It could be so much better than it is!

  • Great thing to promote! Sounds like you guys had a busy day, love all the kids having a go :)

  • Oh such a pleasure.....

  • What are the fluoro bibs for? riders stopping to do a bit of work on the roads?

Doesn't it somewhat negate the point of hi-vis? to make cyclists supposedly more visible to drivers? on closed roads?

  • It's so that Sky can get their logo on every rider. Cycling advertisements after the Skyride.

  • I knew that but didn't want it to get in the way of a valid argument.
