Wanted: warehouse for a party

Posted on
  • Hi all,
i'm looking for a warehouse (not a wearhouse or whorehouse.) for a private party on the 2nd weekend of July. I've tried a few places, Cable street studios and a couple of Dalston basements but they have been a little on the small side. looking for 200 -300 capacity that can go on late, a bit grimey with character in the east end is what we are after. like the parties that used to go on in Belfast Road, Stoke newington. we're looking at Hackney or Hackney wick ideally. it is for a birthday, so we aren't charging people to get in and the people attending aren't 19 year old ravers looking to trash the place either.

it is purely invite only and we have some decent dj's in place, just lacking a venue. It was due to be held out doors in the west country, but no farmers would take our bribes. a makeshift bar with warm beers and sound system preferred but not essential. ;)

i think that's enough info so please drop me a PM, if you know anywhere or anyone that has the above that we can use and i'll bung you and the forum some cash to say thanks.

    cheers, Rob

  • youl be digging for a long time to find the right space unless you have a serious budget.

warehouse partys cost lots to put on as you need temporary events licences and insurance and all that shit, the only way to do them cheap is to do it illegally/squat or know some squatters or someone who owns a space and is prepared to let you party in it...

you may find a run down old club basement or some next bunker but its not gonna be easy.

oh and send me an invite if you find one :)

  • oh, try scrutton street,

    though again, not cheap

  • will get you contact tomorrow if you interested in Peckham rye.

  • Something tells me these dudes don't want to party in Peckham Rye...

  • good spot, cheap but it ain't east end-brickwork-cool-trendy-place

  • Oh yeah, I believe, I stomp in SE hard, maybe the OP will too.

  • there's a venue on commercial rd, it's called Ice fathers nations, google it, amazing space, not sure if still going, 5 min from brick lane

  • sushi, do you mean bussey building?

  • Father nation has been shut down, there renovating the whole building

  • bussey building is awesome

  • If you need security, let me know.

  • With the demise of the SE1, The old Drome would appear to be back up and running as a squat, no idea if anyone is in there at the moment though, but there have been quite a few parties in that block the past month or so.

  • sushi, do you mean bussey building?

bussey is great but I was talking about warehouse on chadwick road.

  • just checked back in and seen your responses, nice one guys! thank you all for the help. i'm keen to travel further afield, but the majority of the attendees are more hobby ravers nowadays, so got to keep it as easy for them as possible. :(

Louis, I would love to use Scrutton street, but it's a little too large and legit for what is needed.

Ms Okra, I was thinking about the commercial road one as well, but been to so many nights down there fancied something a little bit different. it is still going though, I went to one a few months ago.

I'm basically looking for a squat to use if i'm being honest.

thanks again for suggestions and if anyone has anymore i'd love to hear them. also depending on the size of the venue i will zip you guys an invite. at the moment i have 150 attendeees and have only found places suitable for about 100, but if i get somwewhere larger i will send you guys a pm. cheers Rob

  • couple of options in hackney wick and kingsland rd. bear with me..

  • I'm trying to organise a warehouse polo tournament (daytime)/forum party (nighttime), in London.

Anyone have any good tips for places, ideally central/east.

I'll investigate the ones mentioned further up the thread.
