yeah it's smoke on the waterish it's a little off probably sounds better ending in 42 .. the 6 isn't right either but not much else to choose from

I can't work out how they are applying colour to the strings. The animation is done with one big png sprite, but the colours are applied with Javascript, and I don't think they are done with images.

^ no it isn't. It's plain old HTML, images and some nifty javascript. Flash is only used to produce the sound.
