refitting an old chain

Im planning on fitting a old charge masher chain that a friend donated to me as he reckons its better for my build. I have measured up and there is some extra that needs to be taken off the chain to make a snug fit. my question is how can I refit this without the pins that the chain normally comes with?

you need either a chain tool or a magic link (possibly both).....if you are near W London I have both....
