Just so sorry for all directly involved.

I must have cross posted this in rider down.
http://www.lfgss.com/thread66062.htmlBritish Cycling commissaire and volunteer, gifted rider and tireless supporter of our sport killed whilst out training on the road: RIP Rob Jefferies.
A Brixton cycles club member and old school Herne Hill racer, if you trained or raced at the track you probably would have known Rob, a massive man with a massive enthusiasm for the sport.

He was at HH sunday training just the week before last, we were all discussing/admiring his custom built Columbus Max frame. Shocking and saddening news.

Shit, I was chatting to him yesterday on FB. Stunned. Can't believe it. A great man, gentle giant. Always full of encouragement. Also one of the few who kept grass-court polo going as long as it did. A real loss to UK cycling.

Very sad.
I remember Rob well as one of the strongmen of HH, tough but fair and friendly.
Rest in peace Rob, gentleman cyclist. -

please merge all posts, Rob deserves his own thread.
I'm sure it was Rob who was behind the Ron Beckett memorial race, I hope there will be similar in his honour.

Very, very sad.
RIP and thoughts are with family and friends. -

He told me only recently that he still had his custom made mallet, awaiting his "comeback" to Polo.
So sad that he'll not get to ride the new Bournemouth track near his home, which was no doubt the inspiration for his successful track comeback at Easter.

Second that - Rob needs his his own memorial race.
Bad SAD news.
Raced against him loads and he was a tough competitor.
RIP big fella. -

It is with great sadness and feeling of devastation that we hear of the untimely death of former Brixton Cycles club mate Rob Jefferies.
Rob was not just a great personal friend he was my track mentor. He encouraged me with his usual dead pan way to just give it a go at competition after a short induction! Then gave valuable advice. Training rides with him were especially memorable. They usually ended with my tongue hanging out and maybe Rob commenting on the lanes. All I saw was a big expanse of a lycra and not much else.
Its also his fault I now run the Brixton CC track meet. And without the ease and flair he had. He organised it brilliantly over 4 years (only to see it rained off for 3) as he did all his events. .... Yet again this year I am not ready and now he is not here for me to stress out at and sort it for me.
Rob dedicated the Brixton meet to big Ron Beckett with the Ron Beckett double harness pursuit (don't ask). Ron another gentle big man of racing sport was lucky to have some great moments with Rob (Rob as track rider and track commissaire) And I hope Rob is sharing some great moments with him again.
We all have great unique moments with Rob that will stay with us forever. I cannot believe I will not have any more with him. Brixton CC especially send big love from all of us to wife Jane and 'kids' George and Eve. He loved them all deeply.
With any luck I will be able to track down a chief commissaire for the Brixton CC meet on the 25th June at Herne Hill. The whole meet will be dedicated to Rob. More information to follow. Judith.

A minutes silence for Rob was held before racing at Herne Hill today, and I understand the same was done at Welwyn track league yesterday.

This is terrible news. Rob was one of the older riders who gave me guidance when I first started racing as a 14 year old member of the Delaune CC in the early 90's. I have vivid memories of him pushing me up South Norwood Hill at the end of my first ever club run, trying to put Pizza Hut out of business at an all you can eat buffet during National track champs week at Leicester and of course the regular ass kickings at Monday Comp. He'll be sorely missed.
