  • been bitten by the bug and fancy building something a bit different so up for sale is my Kuwuhara fixed gear bike.

    spec is as follows.

Kuwuhara frameset powdercoated in bright blue, Ishiwata Magny Magnesium steel tubing, similar to renoylds 531, very light and strong, triple butted.
Shimano UN54 sealed cartridge bottom bracket.
    Shimano headset
40mm Wienmann pegasus deep V rims (from Varno)
novatec sealed bearing hubs (very smooth) with a flipflop hub (currently running a 16T sprocket and empty cartridge side)
wheels were built up to exact spec/colour, radially laced fronts, cross laced rears, black spokes, black hubs.
    16c x 700c tyres.
    Kashimax (rep?) saddle
46T chainwheel, can't remember brand etc but it wasn't a cheap one.
    fresh OEM decal pack.

think that's everything.....only bad things i can mention is where it was shotblasted, there are a few marks where the water bottle and brake holes in the frame used to be, hardly noticable but thought i'd mention it.

the grip tape has a few tears, but i'll replace this before the bike is sold

collection from Wapping high street, E1, london

Would be interested in a swap with an NJS stamped 23" frame for the next project

    £500

  • £500? Jog on! You could drive a bus through those clearances...

  • the tyres make it look worse than it is, although they're not track forks, that was next on the list if i'd kept it.

  • I'd look at some recent sales on here, your pricing is off... Just preparing you for dissapointment, I reckon you'll be lucky to get £250.

  • Is the frame not built for 27" wheels?
I'm sorry but there's a 54cm Felt TK3 with Paul wheelset etc for the same price.

One is a bargain, one is not.

  • This is the frame that I was watching on ebay last year. Chrome forks, part-chrome rear triangle, chrome shimano dropouts, metallic light blue paint, a little tatty but really nice.

    shame.

  • would you sell the wheels?

  • Well look at the bright side. at least there isnt gonna be any toe overlap!

  • been bitten by the bug ...

    Good luck with that!

    [/Sarcasmofthehighestdegree]

  • Slack chain (though this is of course only one of many issues)

  • beautiful build

  • Frame £50
    Wheels £130
    = £320 for?

So that's the bars, stem, crank, ring, pedals and tyres for free then :)

  • Yes, and free is already too expensive.

  • constructive criticism running wild.

  • Ah in fairness its a nice enough bike, ok so its a converted road frame, and the clearances aren't tight like a track frame, but it's probably comfortable and the parts are in good condition, i'd say 380 would be a fair price, and if your patient you should get that, the weather is getting better so everyone and their granny is going to want a "cool fixie bike" to cycle around on. Unfortunately lots of people on here aren't gonna give this bike any love, mostly because of bike snobbery! if it moves when you pedal then it is good. good luck with the sale

yeh......"good input", the tires aren't inflated either, i wouldn't say he's about to cycle it would you?

    Bollocks.

  • Bollocks.

    .........for example

  • It's not even snobbery, most of the parts seem to have been rattle canned white and overall it's a bit of a mess, for £380 you can get a better equipped bike, and it'll be most likely better looking than this this...

  • constructive criticism running wild.

How can there be any, if the OPs clearly taking the piss.
I mean, five hundred pounds? Five, zero, zero? for that!?
    It's got to be a piss-take.

  • Don't normally get involved in this kind of thing, but, jonny blayney, objecting to a £500 price tag for an average (at best) build isn't snobbery. Granted this guy probably has good intentions and simply added up the build cost and crossed his fingers for his money back, but there are newbie buyers on this forum with money to spend - and if someone tried to sell your Nan a packet of Malted Milk biscuits for a tenner you'd probably be glad someone stepped in, right?

  • Depends on how much she wanted those Malted Milks...

  • and under what circumstances
