if you don't want to ever have any problems ever, go for the marathons. they'll do the trick.

Thanks mate just seem pretty heavy compared to the Duranos but I've heard that guys (and gals) have had their Marathons last for years!
Want a tyre which is pretty fast but is still pretty puncture proof that's why I thought about the Duranos Plus.

armadillo's are great hard wearing and pretty puncture proof but a bit slippy in the wet
you don't want to be fixing a puncture at 8am -

this guy starts new threads for each of his questions, as clearly in all the time we have never covered tyres, pedals or trackstanding.

I used the search on the forums but nothing popped up when I typed in Schwalbe only people selling tyre's came up. Prancer you probably posted lots of threads before asking questions. I thought the whole point of forums was to help each-other out obviously if I came across something I wouldn't have posted.
Thanks for the post for the link to the tyre thread I did not come across that one. If I did I would have not posted this stupid thread.
And this is only my second thread that I have started. I joined in on the ATAC pedal ones to ask people for help.
I'll think twice next time before posting pointless threads. -

A useful tip:
use the advanced search and...
Search Options: Find Threads with Prefix (no prefix)
search by title
type intelligent phrase (e.g. tyre)^ this will take out all of the sale threads. Which often kills the quick search function.
Also, the link which you've just said was helpful is half way down the list when you type "tyre" into the quick search bar, titled "Tyre reviews"
Not being a dick, just saying....
...oh and htfu ;)

Thanks hugo for the links mate I'll check them all out and will use the advanced thread features.
@Aroogah 3 days of riding and the seemed to wear straight away.
I saw a post on here which had a poll and the Gatorskins seemed to be winning for some reason but I've only heard people say bad things about them :s -

^ that thread full of anecdotes.
I ride different Conti tyres across three bikes GP4000s on my race bike. Gator Skins on my fixie-I-don't-skidder-maybe-that's-your-troubles.
I had conti GP4000 as my front tyre at the weekend, only reason I didn't have an Ultra Sport on the rear is that I'd done miles on it when it finally wore through (was expecting it and ready for the change).
I also use various Schwalbe on other bikes (and now on the rear in place of Ultra Sport) and have no grumbles about them.
Do any of you own a track pump? If so, do you ever use it?

Wow. You're angry, defensive and sarcastic. Take it to the Conti thread and just let it all out.
-
• #22
How'd you get that I'm angry from that post? Maybe missing some punctuation = anger. I dunno?
I'll defend Conti as I can't agree with the reviews saying they're shit, based on my anecdotal experience, summarised above. I'm not angry though... look here's empirical evidence in the form of a Smiley...
:)
Good spot of the 2 sarcastic questions and hyphenated-comment in there, but the simple point remains if people pumped their tyres up and didn't skid about they'd find they work a bit better.

But aren't your views based on anecdote as well? Did you do some scientific testing on your conti's?
One of my pet hates is people using anecdote as evidence but in the case of tyres... what else have we got to go on really?
My personal anecdotal recommendation.. bonty hard case, non foldy. Never let me down.. people just go with what they trust... like barbers.

Yes, I admited as much about 10 minutes ago.

@rhb this was my first pair of Contis so I am not really the one to judge, they are most probably the cheapest of cheap of what the brand has to offer. May have been a manufactures flaw but they only lasted practically 3 days and this was only a 2-4 mile commute over those days. And I pumped the suckers up to 120 each day (well when they needed to be pumped).
My stock Continental Ultra Race 25c tyres failed after a week. They have worn out completely and the rear tyre has a puncture and also the presta valve has failed.
Pretty shit tyres I must say. But what do you expect on a stock bike.
Thinking of getting the Schwalbe Durano Plus tyres (as the seem quite light), but have heard a lot of good review about the Marathons that Schwalbe offer.
Looking for a 700x25 tyre to fit on my stock AlexRims DA28. Anyone have anything good/bad to say about the Duranos?
Cheers forum
