  • I find it nearly impossible to do a trackstand on my ss, just wondering if you guys are capable of doing it and if it is worth learning it are there many benefits learning to trackstand other than at lights and hills? I usually just put my foot down on the ground instead of trying to make a fool of myself by tipping over by attempting to trackstand.

  • Yes.

  • Trackstands are a physical impossibility - this has been proven using proper FACT based science. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying, and probably touches children.

    Oops.

  • I can trackstand. Technically some might consider me a child and yes I do touch myself

  • I'm touching myself right now.

  • there is a lot of people touching children here...
would you say its easier on a fg or ss? Or does it not make any difference?

  • Eaysire on both too say I thnk

  • Twatstand?

  • Twatstand?

ha jealous much? ...just 'cause you can't trackstand now you're temporarily without control of your right foot...

#i'm not really a cunt. i visited the outpatient on saturday

is this a joke? on a ss it is just as hard as on a road bike i.e. hardly anyone could manage a minute. on a fixed gear most people could last for many minutes, the limiting factor is when your arms get tired, not balance needing to put you foot down.

  • i'm trackstanding right now as i type with one hand and interfere with a child with the other

  • Twatstand?

Is that when females hit their vaginas on their frame?

  • You can trackstand a freewheel pretty easily if on a slope, facing upward, as you can then balance against the bikes desire to roll back.

I learnt to trackstand on MTB's, and then you had to sort of bounce the bike off the front brake,if on the flat, if that makes sense?

  • the limiting factor is when your arms get tired, not balance needing to put you foot down.

Arms getting tired? What's your trackstanding technique causing your arms to get tired

  • Hanging onto the street furniture

    Nope.

  • In order to get the bike to roll back

out of saddle = arms tire after few minutes. obv if i was not waiting at a light and just trackstanding ad infinitum (can't think why i would be) i would sit down. i retract my point, sir.

  • Ah I see. I learnt to get over the lactic acid in my arms from sprint training practice.

  • I see.... (pondering techniques).

  • does the angling of the front wheel make a huge difference? Of course you don't want it 180 degrees

  • oz - i don't think any part of my body is accumstomed to lactic acid! i'm a laidback* guy

dthomas86 - yes angling the wheel helps a lot. in answer to the titular question, on a freewheel (ss or geared) some people can trackstand but a minority and it takes concentration. on a fixed wheel, most people can and with ease.

    *read puny

  • With a freewheel, try finding a slight slope. Nothing too steep, just enough to that the bike rolls back when you relieve pressure.

OLC - I used to race but am now one of the laziest people around. I dunno how long I can trackstand for as I get bored

    Racist...

I think mine is going to be more like that
