if you don't find anyone a bit more local I'll have a look. I just had to remove this (or something similiar) from 2 peoples laptops and get their drivers etc sorted.

to be honest, you might be best off rebuilding it - we had a few of these at work, and it always seems to re-manifest itself in some way. wiping it is the only way to be sure - just back up your data onto a USB drive first.

cheers both
OK, I have a Dell Inspiron running Windows 7 home edition, and recently fell victim to the Win 2011 Total Security anti-virus hoax. It's a bug which informs you that your anti-virus needs updating, when in fact it is itself a virus. I fell for it, paid up and so have cancelled my card. More inconvenient is how my computer now performs.
The virus has been partially removed as my laptop is no longer crippled, but I'm not convinced it's entirely gone, as my computer does not behave in the same way; some things are missing. I don't have the technical lingo, as you can see.
What I'm hoping for is that somebody based in London would be prepared to help me ensure that all traces of the virus are gone, and that the features which once worked but no longer do are restored on my laptop. It could be a very simple process, and I suspect it will be.
Anybody willing please PM me - I'm happy to have you come to my place or bring my laptop to you, and to pay for your help. Please?
Cheers
