For Sale: Mavic GL 330 laced to Specialized Hubs Wheelset
Right, lacking the dorrah, so I need to sell these wheels.
They are a pair of Mavic GL330 hard anodized tubular rims laced to Specialized Hubs. The front wheel has the name Ralph Colman stickered on, which I presume is Ralph Colman of Bristol.
The rims have some surface wear, more around the spokes than the rest of the rim. They are true, I think it is just the way the rims were built.
The front is true, might need 0.2 mm adjustment in places, but I don't have a stand, so I'll end up doing more damage than good I expect. I've trued it slightly, and it is now pretty much true. The rear seems true from the 'hand eye test' method, but i have no frame to put it in to check.
The hubs are absolutely silky smooth. They are spaced for 126mm dropouts, but could easily be respaced to 120, should you wish to run the Singlespeed. And if you want to be really dodgy, you might even be able to respace them to 120mm with the cassette on, but that would probably lead to seat stay/chainstay issues.
I can't remeber what spokes they are, but it's the logo thats like a cross between the hash key and an 8, but the centre is small, so it could also be seen as a 4 petaled flour. Anyway, they are the type of spoke which gets narrower after about an inch from the niple, and then get thicker an inch away from the hub. Either for weight saving or areo, but they are not bladed.
The freewheel is a Suntour 6 speed hub, 21-13 tooth (I can count every indervidual (spelling?) cog all the way through if you really want). Used but in decent condition.
The tyres are Vittoria Competition Formula Uno 7-9 Bar (approx. 100-130 PSI) Tubs, with light use.
The Front wheel weighs approx. 1100g, and the Rear approx. 1550g unless my scales are wrong.
They come, ofcourse, with scewers, the front being a Specialized, and the rear a Somos, unless you do not want them, in whichcase I will happily keep the front.
