rear mech threading

ive got a simplex rear mech on my roberts,tried changing it to a campy and its seems its a different thread.never had this on any bike before......any ideas

all rear mech hanger threads are M10x1 afaik, but some mechs can be difficult to get started when attaching, try and make sure the thread is visually in line and turn gently until it gets going.

thanks retro,this really puzzled me.never had this problem before with all the bike building ive done.cue loads of scratching head and swearing
