Is there a way to try high end saddles before you buy? Ideally I don't want to shell out £50+ only to find it doesn't match my derriere...
Thanks

Doubtful. But Evans would be the place to try, as they just might have a costumer trial one available. Haven't heard of that before, but it makes sense.....but only to a major retailer, and certainly not to the tiny LBS.

there were talks about saddle swapparoo here? perhaps someone can lend you one for a while?

To be honest I don't even know where to start! Rolls seem to be pretty ubiquitous...I assume they fit the "average" person?

Velo Orange make some nice looking leather saddles too.

ThanksBuy used on ebay. Don't like, resell on ebay.
Also, some shops will offer test saddles.

I don't like the remakes of the classic saddles.
Don't like the full leather saddles either.
But to add one: Selle Royal Contour.
I don't like that, but would buy an old Super Contour perhaps.Plenty real classic saddles available, even NOS.
3TTT, Iscaselle Giro d'Italia, ...
Although Unicanitors, Concors Supercorsa (and Sprint and Profil and Comfort), Turbos are pretty rare, very much searched after and, thus, far too expensive. -

Made by Lepper (of The Netherlands), this piece of mobile furniture is designed to increase the weight of any bicycle by at least a tonne. Good for increasing hill-climb toughness, and for those with extra wide sit-bones (coughscoble).

Jesus, look at that fucking thing. And it's called 'Lepper', just to add to the general air of filth.
I've been waiting for your list of top 10 sex toys…

This list is not such a bad place to start....
I'm saying nothing. Your imagination shall set you free.

Does anyone actually use KY Jelly as chamois cream? I wouldn't be surprised (but don't want to search the internet and find out).

hey why is this thread so small?
I am looking for a saddle like the San Marco concor. I would like that kind of 'furry' leather. Of course even if it is not leather is ok....I am trying to find some very cheap saddle with that 'alcantara' texture. The san marco concor is too expensive for the bike I am building, is there any cheap clone ?

Im after a nice light, classic looking brown leather saddle, not with big giant springs. Even the titanium Brooks swallow looks pretty heavy still (plus pretty damn expensive). Any ideas please?
-

That green beauty is mouth watering. Seriously trying not to look at it!

Has anyone tried these New/ Limited edition Brooks Cambium.... Like the look of them but not sure how well they would wear?
-

That cambium is gorgeous. I've got a brook's swallow, new, on my latest bike. It's stunning but quite firm...

Anybody know how to get hold of Tony colegrave of Rye. A specialist in repairing leather saddles and the only authorised repairer of brooks saddles other the factory. Is he still working?
Apparently the leading authority on leather saddles.
Traditional Leather Saddles
Its true that Brooks rule the traditional leather saddles world, but they are not the only ones to be had. There are also some more modern incarnations, like the Charge, which isn't very traditional looking at all. So for those looking to finish off a classic build, a Tweed Run bike, or a Porteur style bike, it really should be leather. And it should be of the old-fashioned look. Just my opinion of course, but I have been known to have those. Sorry.

There is also a new(ish) company on the horizon, called Fujih. There's no outlet for there products here yet, but I'm hoping some enterprising soul gets in touch with them, and brings them to market here. Origin-8 seem to now be suppying traditional leather saddles also.
