  • Don't sell the NS10s!!!!!!

they look in slightly better nick than mine...

  • why not? haven't used them in years, and have ordered some new monitors, so will have 3 pairs, which is too many.

they've gone out of fashion now. ADAM A7s are the new NS-10s.

  • Would love some ns-10s!
Would need to shift some mackie mr-5's though....unless your up for a part exchange? (hehe)

  • oh what amp are you rocking too?

  • i was running them with an old Linn hi-fi amp, worked very well.

  • Ah, the continued perpetuation of the NS10 myth.

  • will swap for your wheels..

  • Couldn't possibly swap for my ride.
    well
    hmmmm....

  • Ah, the continued perpetuation of the NS10 myth.

How many albums have you mixed Guy?

  • not you, him. his actual wheels, that he has for sale.

  • I still regret not buying a mate's for 70 notes... What a div...

  • How many albums have you mixed Guy?

Complete albums myself, none. Tracks, many.

They are fine for checking how bad a mix can sound, or working out bright spots, but if you try and do a full mixdown on them as main monitors! No no no.

But then I probably know nothing, the mackie HR824 is the only monitor I would give studio room too.

Despite the many 100s of classic albums and the many 1000s of not so classic albums that have been mixed on NS10s, eh.

The reason professionals used them is because they were the best nearfields available and were a standard across the board, the massive bottom-end wall hangers are there to impress the clients but many mix engineers do 99% of the work on the nearfields.

I would disagree. I have worked in a few pro studios with many pro engineers. Not one of them used NS10s as main nearfields. If you go into almost any pro studio they are wired in as aux, for use as a secondary nearfield monitor, and used almost exclusively to work on the mids. I do not know of a single pro engineer who would use them as main monitors or mix down lows or highs on them.

Again, this is all just based on personal experience, and I haven't done any pro audio work for over 4 years, and I don't plan on ever doing any more.

I have heard endless variations of stories as to why they are in every pro studio, but not one of them is based on them being any good.
