they can be great if looked after and if you find the right one for your arse
-

i did not get on with mine.
unfortunately i'm unsure how helpful that is.

But £100 quids worth that has me more stumped than anything... At £50 id gladly give it a go....

i was considering one for my MTB (go on spit)
But i bought one for a tenner and its perfect..can 90 pound more, mould more perfect?
8 hour day and no saddle sore from that mofo.

+1. Made a big difference for me when couriering. Unlike other saddles they get better with age.
Though some people just can't get on with them. -
• #7
ebay then
-
• #8
you need to get the right one for the purpose
a swallow on a sit up and beg bike would be horrible but a wide one on a bike with an aggressive racing position would be equally terrible

ebay.

Totally agree with the (previous) above sentiment - it's about seat-to-bar drop and pelvis width/shape.
I can't get on with the non-sprung, sit up ones. Too slippy so I just get more pressure on my perineum and hands.

go on the factory tour then buy something else :)

Do they break in better with saddle soap etc, regular riding?
Bit alien to me to be fair....
-
• #13
I personally dont think the saddle breaks in ,its your arse that shapes to the saddle and breaks in.
-
• #14
i'd use saddle shaving cream for breaking it in
-
• #15
if you shave a saddle you need commiting.
-
• #16
if you commit to saddle a shaver, you're halfway there already

Its for my Faux track conversion... So would need to be a narrow non sprung jobby to look like i havent borrewed my Grans saddle for the day.... But my bucket on but looks a bit gash to be honest.... Selle royale?
Looked on ebay not much cheaper.. in fact old ones seem to go for more than new ones!!! -

The smart money's on the Team Pro, IMO.
-

i got owned by a 'grans saddled' 3 speed raleigh hustler on my way back home freewheeling downhill. (wales)
dropped bad...beware grans saddles.
On topic..if its a good saddle for life..bonus..weary of cost to be fair as your self.
bang for buck person, as my recent build...

Your Colt was very nice. Super thick leather compared to my 'flimsy' swift.
Swift now looking da business thanks to you sir :-)

ok, on a serious note, a team pro is a good choice like skully says
-
• #23
skully, what is wrong with the swallow?
-

Colts are rock hard, don't think you'll get on with it. I've done a few hundred miles on mine and it's only just starting to break in. Whereas my narrow was pretty quick*.
- is it me or are they becoming easier to break in. Swear my first ever brooks took months not weeks.

I've got a nearly new black and chrome brooks swift i'm contemplating selling if you're interested. TBH im pussying out, I don't want to endure hundreds of miles of discomfort in order to make it comfortable.
Just wondering what your guys vibe on Brookes saddles is, Im contemplating buying a swift or simmilar, Seems like a lot of money for a sore bum?
And is honey too Hipster??
Im normaly quite at ease making desicions like this but this one "I cannie make me mind up captian"
I know a lot of youu ride Charge Knife/spoon, But I already have a bucket and found it very hard?
