  • I've changed the chainring, wheels and sprocket on my bike and have been trying to fit a new chain (KMC BMX 1/8") - after many idiotic cuttings in the wrong place and relinking the new chain, I've discovered I can either have it so tight the wheel jams against frame or so loose the chain is visibly bowed with the wheel right back as far in the dropouts as possible. The frame is an aluminium Langster.

I am new to this mechanical activity, so please be gentel if I am being a real tit! I'm now very tired and frustrated!

    Any clues please?

  • Are you shortening/lengthening the chain by 1 link each time?

  • yes, as far as possible, but the connector for the chain only works on joining the ends of the chain that are the smaller inner plates with the bearings in them if that makes sense?

  • so in effect, every cut removes 2 links...I think!

  • on the langster there should be about 25mm movement, two links should not move it that far fore/aft

  • Yep, which is 25mm.

The trackends give you more than that to play with though?

  • ^ too slow.

  • ha!

  • There's your problem.

    Langsters have 25mm 'ends?

    That is short.

  • an inch isn't really short.

unless we're talking about other things :)

  • two links = 10mm roughly on overall joined chain lenght

  • Sorted.

The reason your chain's slack is your dick is too short.

    Job done.

    NEXT.

  • well that explains everything - rear brake limits travel in dropouts a bit too...guess it'll be tail between legs to bike shop for help!!

  • hehe

  • 2 links at .5 inch each = 1 inch = 2.54cm more or less, i.e. as much as the dropout movement or a hair more...

  • no, overall chain length (ie: a joined cahin) is 2 links = 10mm not 25mm

  • No. Half an inch is 12.7mm.

That x2 is pretty much his entire penis length.

  • ha!

  • Those 2.7mm are important.

    Aren't they Mike?

  • v important...

  • mostly i should have stuck to the wusst 42/18 I had instead of putting on a 46 ring...

  • i"m going for a shower to measure my dick...

  • cold i hope :)

  • Is it worn/stretched.

    (chain not dick)

  • new, look above silly_O
