i didn't mean decent as in incredible! I meant as in decent enough. Not about to fall apart. Not a cheap chinese mail order frame.

I don't have much money. I want to play around with a fixed gear bike before i decide whether or not i'd like to ride one more often.

An old frame around 60cm, fixed hub, just a functioning fixed gear bike. Is £100 too little to ask?

I'm sure i could build one for less with a £30 531 frame after some searching on ebay (i've been through a couple of 531 bikes in the past that cost me about that off ebay!- the two i grabbed were too small which is a shame) and an old third hand fixed wheelset, i don't need nitto bars or mavic wheels or a sugino crankset. I want a basic, old parts fixie. I just don't have the time for a project until summer, having exams soon etc.

If anyone has a slightly crappy fixed gear bike they want to get rid of, that didn't cost too much to make, all i was asking was whether you'd give it to me for £100.

God you guys are a bunch of rabid monkey arses.

  • Under £100? Good luck.

  • Ha ha ha

  • Oh whoops, £269

  • Decent ...and £100...in the same sentence...?

    This place is getting worse...

I can sell you a single speed that will get you from a to b...does that sound 'decent' enough...It's by Kalkhoff...amazing, they were a german outfit operating in the seventies, a relation of Ernie 'the milkman' Calnogo ...it's really 'light'...has mivac wheels...nittoo bars...the works...and it's 'cherry' red too (Everyone knows it's the fastest colour)...sounds like you know what you are after...

  • It's by Kalkhoff...amazing

Im pretty sure these came out of the same factory as Farckhoff, didnt they?

  • ONE SEARCH GOT ME THIS: £115, but I'm a bit more confident I'm not buying stolen goods if I ask here. Surely if I can get one (that far exceeds what I want) on ebay for 115 then £100 for a slightly crappier one isnt asking too much!

  • This was the level I was aiming.

If you get this, whatever you do, don't remove the brakes!

Crappy brand new generic £139 from the seller:

"This cool fixed gear road bike is an ideal companion for your life. It offers families with enjoyments and mobility in a high level. Everything in one box for just** 16 Kg.** *This beautiful** bike** has chain cog on both side of the real wheel, this means you can ride the bike backwards for stunt riding and tricks."*

    good to know

  • haha I know that second one was pushing it a bit.

  • Singspeed if you'd taken the time to give the information in your second post as your opening post the initial response would have been different. Give little information and come across as someone who hasn't done their homework then prepare to be either ignored or made fun of, give useful information and get informed answers.

    ...closely followed by this

  • buy this one, swap out the frame for one your size; you should be able to get a cheap (albeit heavy) frame for very little.

  • There is no easy way of getting a fixie like they ride down brick lane, you've got to travel places, talk to people (yeah, real people face to face) get a feel for what you like and what it's all about and then spend some money, £100 just aint really enough. That is unless you are willing to do all of the above, and if you do good luck and god speed.
p.s. srsly I've got a saddle, 27.2 seatpost, pedals with clips, stem, bars & grips you can have for £20, now there's a start...

haa...thanks..;D, hows the rourkie holding up? Sing you mention the frames are too small...

Sing, Sorry to have bitten your ass...though reading it back it does sound like the usual lunatic that has been to brick lane on a sunday and thinks that all bikes are 500 quid reduced to 'anundred' for the morning,
if you need a large frame I have a 62 cm road frame it's not amazing, it's a barracuda 6000 series alu frame, has vert drop outs so you'd need a chain tensioner...you could have it for £50 or so...? or I really do have a cherry red kalkoff thats about 58? (i'll check) with horizonatal dropouts, you could have for £40. I have more large suitable frames though they would be more money.
I have a shite load of wheels/bars/chainsets/ you could pick through and find your self something to fit it...?
You could have most of the bits to build something up in one journey? Theoryswine can vouch I'm legit, and nothing would be pinched!
