Hi Gav, I have been in that same situation just days ago and found spareroom.com to be very useful as a filter for randomness, set up a profile of yourself / likes and dislikes as a room wanted ad and you will find people contacting you that are fairly like-minded. Hope that helps...

Not feeling lucky right now. I've started down the path setting up a share and have already been shown a couple of dreadful places by pubescent estate agents. I have some more to go to over the next few days and have been very specific so hopefully things will improve.
