Hi
I assume this is a mixed surfaces route: gravel, paths, towpaths etc? I need to do some non-road riding so I might be interested. I would want to ride the same way return too.Have some work to do to make my bike ready, working on a new setup for gravel, tracks etc. But it should be finished in time.

Weird, I did this on saturday... so the initial part of the towpath is gravel/potholes/terrible... then it opens out to some lovely new tarmac, then back to gravel/potholes/terrible....

Yep you got it mixed bag of surfaces,
Will be retuning same route after Drink/Food at Waltham Abbey as I need to get in some steady / easy miles before FNRttC and a Sportive. -

I've done this ride a bunch of times (well, from Vic Park). I really like it for a relaxed jaunt. It's a bit bleak around Edmonton, but besides that, quite nice.
Just moved to the Wick and am seconds away from the canal/navigation. Tempted to go do it now.
Hmmmmm....

How far is this likely to be. Am thinking to do it from Kew, on my frigid ss29er.

prancer
when I last rode that way went further to Broxbourne and then back and that ended up around 40 miles.
Think Waltham to Broxbourne is around 6 miles so for the trip i'd estimate about 30 miles bit hard to plot on a Mapping site as they tend not to follow the Towpaths. -

So, it's around 30miles round trip from just north of Langdon Park on the tow paths.

hmm, am tempted (weather dependent) could be a fun slog on the big wheels

Pretty much the same as the two Lee River rides I did last summer, just starting a few miles further south.
They were great fun (apart from Chainbreaker crashing), we made it to Ware the first time, and Hertford the second time.

Two very hardy and good looking chaps with bikes of steel and classy legs even managed to make it back on the second one, but as I recall quite a few people just stuffed their faces and got on a train...
hehe...

I did it on 23c maxiss refuses... now I'll admit it's not the most comfortable ride, but definitely do able.

The towpath will be closed from 21st March until June for a few hundred metres from Chalk Bridge on Tottenham Marshes for some repair work by British Waterways. There will be a diversion in place which will be announced nearer the time but I can't imagine it will take you too far off course. I'll let you know whats occurring when it closes as this is the stretch of the river where I work.
Enjoy your ride on the 16th, I'll probably be walking the dog during my lunch when you go past so will say hi if I see you.

Jeez
Yep got it and just replied.....
I've some time off work next week so am thinking of taking a ride up the River Lea from Limehouse Basin up the Limehouse Cut to Waltham Abbey and maybe pushing on to Broxbourne.
Will be leaving Limehouse at 11:00 am
The Start Point is:
Limehouse Marina Entrance
off of Narrow Street.
Obviously if chucking it down it'll not happen.
This is my first attempt and posting a ride on here, but have done the route a fair few times.
So anyone interested ?
I'll start a List.
