roadie brake levers don't work, don't pull enough cable.
You need:
Dia-Compe 287V or Tektro RL520 leversThere might be some barrel/roller converter thing but haven't seen them about for a while (maybe travel agent but they work out more expensive than new levers)

I have some used deore v-brake levers if you're in the market for them, PM me.

RPM - cheers, confirmed what I thought. Got some Dia Compe 204 Touring Brake Levers. Will have to try to fit the cantilever brakes that the bike came with, only prob is that they didnt send a canti hanger!!!!!
Clefty, thanks for the offer, but I already have the brakes.

Moog, thanks, but expensive!!! I have also got a deore brake lever that I could use, or just go no brakes (it is fixed).

^essentially twice the price of the levers, depending on where you look. Unless you are running STI then just replacing the levers for ss/fixed is the better option.

Okay, to fit the tektro oryx brakes that came with the bike I realise I dont have all the right bits, I can ride it brakeless for the time being, as it is fixed!!!! Dont really like the Dia Compe brake levers that came with the bike anyway!!! I have some old Sora sti brake levers, could I use them instead?

FLaP Clefty is offering you the levers for the brakes you have.
V brakes = long pull,
Canti's = short pull.
You need the corresponding levers as RPM said, or a travel agent as moog said.
If you want to use the brakes you already have, then buy Clefty's levers. Best solution.Don't go brakeless unless you're used to it, you probably don't have a good gear ratio for it.

Cheers, yeah I realise my mistake. The problem was that I was sent the whole bike, but missing the canti hanger for the front, so I was a little confused how to fit brakes, then tried fitting the deore brakes but using the canti (roadie) brake levers!!! So now I have fitted the deores with the deore brake lever as well and all is hunky dory! (btw Planet Xhave said that they will send the missing canti hanger.
Have been riding brakeless in town for a while, never for a long trip though.Going to use the bike to commute to work tomorrow; 40 miles there and back mostly on a cycle track, with one road crossing.
Gear ratio is 49:18 - I shall see how it works tomorrow, but a few weeks back I did the same commute on a SS with 52:16 and it went ok.
As the title says, trying to fit Deore V brakes to a pompino forks with roadie brakes. But nothing is working, do I need to attach a barrel adjuster, and where?
any help appreciated!
