  • An ARAYA Super Aero, hard-anodized:

apparently this was a one-off sample and the only one in the world.

It's a shame, why isn't this classic, marvellous rim being produced these days? It would more than certainly sell.

  • The sticker is a bit shit to be honest.

  • I want some of those shiny araya stickers

  • I've already been offered one, no that one I guess...
    So there's more than 1 ;)

  • same, don't want them on my rims

  • I was hoping that this thread was about what it is actually about. And nothing else.

  • I remember a time when I too felt that I had found the worlds nicest rim, but I was once again left broken hearted, alone in a cheap hotel room. It made me feel cheap. Maybe I was cheap. Looking back all the signs were there.

I'd met Greg on a Newsgroup. Newsgroups are what we used pre www. We would chat on a special interest topiary group and one night as we chatted away about everything and nothing the subject of rims came up; it transpired that Greg was a specialist importer of rims. He travelled the world dealing in fine rims. What an exciting life I mused to myself as a lay in bed but thought no more of it.

Life went on. I would occasionally log onto the topiary news group, sometimes Greg was there and he would mention the odd thing about his last trips. Nothing much just odd passing comments. The talk was mainly on subject. Then one day out of the blue I got an email from Greg telling me he was coming to the UK. He was from Asia where all the sweat rims and mainly travelled to the US but just so happened to be passing though the UK. Knowing my interest in rims he offered to meet up and show me some. I was so excited!

As the weeks passed and my excitement grew I received a few more emails from Greg, the usual mundane stuff of where and when to meet but also he started talking about the deal he was travelling over for. He was having a meeting with a brand called "Swagger bikes". He was looking to set up a supply chain from Asia to London! The best bit was that he said he would be bringing over samples of the finest Asian rims and offered to sell me one cheap. How could I resist! To be the only person in London with a exclusive, yet to be imported rim.

The day finally arrived. I waited nervously in the entrance foyer of a Travel lodge just off the A48. I felt a tap on my shoulder. "You must Pam?" he said smiling broadly at me, "and you must be Greg" I replied. He was tall and slim with long blond hair, a hint of Jimmy Saville about him, but in a nice way.

    .....

  • lol

  • I followed him up to his room, I could see his bag bulging. What Asian beauty did he have concealed? I was dying to see it in all it glory. Arriving in his room we sat down and he offered me drink. We made conversation but he could see I had my eyes on one thing and one thing only.

"You really are desperate to see my gods aren't you Pam?" he said as he noticed my gaze drift once more. Slightly flustered I just nodded. I could feel my self blushing. With out saying a word he stood up and started to undo the zip. My heart started beating faster with. Slowly he reviled his rim. I gasped with excitement....

Indonesia, belongs to the forum. Had only one, sold quickly.
I wasn't interested. They don't come about frequently, but they were more than 1.
