  • Saw some paramedics attending to someone who appeared to have their face covered. A huge number of radio cars and an ambulance at the scene. It wasn't clear what happened, but a HGV cab had stopped in middle lane of the roundabout and it looks like it may have been turning off towards Moorgate.

Didn't see a bike or motorbike at the scene, but for obvious reasons didn't dwell.

    Hope those involved are alright.

    .

  • Twitter reporting car & bus, no mention of a cyclist. Hope none were involved.

  • Yeah, went past this morning as well. Did not look good based on the shear volume of emergency vehicles there. Two bikes leaning on the fence at the side but I'm hoping they were witnessess as both were unharmed. Really hope who ever is injured pulls through.

  • Just passed this 10 mins ago, one of the worst accident scenes I have passed.
There was a skip hire wagon on the road - sans skip, and I saw 2 black cycle helmets and what looked like a yellow ortlieb style bag. Whoever had been in the accident was gone, but lot of police and investigation unit.

  • Went past about 20 mins ago. The BBC Travel News are reporting a cyclist involved but like Braker I didn't want to dwell so can't confirm. Thoughts to all involved.

  • I passed this on the way in today: Saw a cyclist face down, paramedics were cutting away the lycra tights as I passed.

From what I saw, it didn't look too bad, but difficult to know.

Hope he or she isn't too badly injured and heals up quickly.

  • fingers crossed for the people involved, hope it's not as bad as it sounds

  • Saw it just a min ago, never seen so many police vehicles at such an incident. Hope whoever's come to grief is OK.

  • Claira just texted me (it's on her way to work), she said two cyclists were hit by a truck. I imagine she asked of the officers.

  • it was a female cyclist, looks like she was hit by a truck. she was loaded in to an ambulance on a stretcher, looked pretty serious.

  • Thinking healing thoughts.

  • Sorry to hear this, well wishes all round. Hope she ok.

Saw this just after 8 and thought it was a bomb scare at the station. Heal up.

  • It wasn't a very nice scene, belongings scattered on the floor, and a rental skip hire truck without a skip parked up.

    Hoping for the best!

  • Looked bad to me. Hope you are ok, whoever you are.

I had a brief chat to another cyclist, his response was 'yeah a lot of cyclists jump those lights' Really fucking pissed me off. Prick.

  • i saw this too, a policeman told me it was a cyclist hit by a truck. i hope thye pull through

  • i hate that roundabout, used to be on my commute to st kats.. prayers and thoughts for the cyclists, keep safe all.

  • All still closed off.
A few police vehicles remaining along with cyclists belongings which are strewn all over the road.
Skip truck looks like it was definitely turning towards Moorgate from the middle lane.
    Upsetting to see.
    Wishing the cyclist(s) well.

  • Looked bad to me. Hope you are ok, whoever you are.

I had a brief chat to another cyclist, his response was 'yeah a lot of cyclists jump those lights' Really fucking pissed me off. Prick.

Agreed. It's very insensitive for onlookers to make scathing judgements assuming that it's always the cyclist in the wrong! The same assumption could be made about the lorry driver, but when a serious accident has taken place you have to remember not to lay blame until you know what happens.

I hope whoever was involved pulls through.

    Cycle safely people.

  • I was really nervous as I approached by foot as it looked serious. Get well whoever you are out there.

I had a brief chat to another cyclist, his response was 'yeah a lot of cyclists jump those lights' Really fucking pissed me off. Prick.

A lot of cyclists do jump those lights! It's a fact. No one knows what's happened yet though. We always get pissed off with cars/lorries misbehaving and they always get pissed off with us misbehaving. What exactly really fucking pissed you off, just the insensitivity of the remark?

  • This on Twitter from @Ldn_Ambulance "Our staff have taken a female cyclist to hospital following a road traffic collision with a lorry on Old Street this morning."

    Hope she's okay. A truck. Again. :o(

  • From London Ambulance tweet: "Our staff have taken a female cyclist to hospital following a road traffic collision with a lorry on Old Street this morning."
We are hoping she recovers, all our thoughts are with her.

  • fingers crossed

  • Heal up fast

  • Hope she pulls through:

Female cyclist in critical condition after collision with a lorry at Old Street rooundabout

A female cyclist has been seriously injured after being involved in a collision with a lorry at the Old Street roundabout in Shoreditch during rush hour this morning (February 24).

Paramedics treated the woman after the crash, which happened shortly before 7.45am. She was taken to the Royal London Hospital suffering injuries to her head, chest and pelvis. Police officers have cordonned off surrounding roads.

Old Street is closed and traffic is queuing westbound between the Great Eastern Street junction and Old Street roundabout. Congestion is also affecting City Road.
