The filling loop is normally disconnected after use- it's not meant to be left there ready to refill the boiler.
Have you any idea where it will have been put?

I'm not a plumber, so not sure what system your dealing with.
In days of old, you went to the mixer tap in the kitchen, sealed the outlet with your hand, turned on hot water tap, then turned on the cold to force mains water back through the system. Then turned them off in reverse order before removing your hand from the tap. May only work with pressurised cylinders, not on demand boilers.

It's probably permanently connected. Find the small tap on the inlet, and open it.

It's below that lot. I am uploading a picture.

This is my boiler - same modelThat flexible coupling joining the 2nd and 3rd pipes from the right is the filling loop.
Either yours is not there or it's below the bottom of your pictureIf you need it fixed I can recommend http://www.vaillantservice.co.uk/VAILLANT/Vaillant_Home.html

My two pence worth, looks like the grey twirled knob facing you.
Have you tried opening it up and seeing if anything happens? You will find that you have to open it right up before you get even the slightest show on the dial.
BTW, there are usually two valve to open. One being a safety valve. So not really doing anything just meaning you have to open two valves. It's like having two brakes on a bike! One not normally doing anything...
More pics may help and a good look below as BQ alluded to in earlier post.
It's not something you need to spend £80 quid to get a pro to look at (topping boiler at least)

It's not the grey knob.

What does the greyknob do, oh valiant BQ?

opens the door to narnia. does on mine anyway.
interestingly*, my boiler's fuxzored right now too.
*this is not interesting.

I'm not entirely sure - can't find the document now, but I think it's the pressure relief valve. So it will do the exact opposite of what you need.

Both ends of that loop have a valve, one has the knob, the others needs a screwdriver to open it. You need to open both to re-presurise the heating system.
Dammit, is right that the loop is not meant to be left on (all the manual say this), but I've never seen a boiler without it left on, and plumbers always expect to find them.
Hope this is just repeating what has already been said.
Edit:
Ah! looking at the wrong picture. No loop on the sick boiler.
Will need a plumber/friend with a spare loop and a clue. -

nothing below the countertop?

Put it in reverse and let the handbrake off. Oh, wait...
I'm with Smiffy and the guyz. There will be two valves, both could be proper knobs or screwdriver slots. If you can keep an eye on the gauge, you should be able to find the right loop by a bit of educated trial and error.

Nothing below the counter BQ, any change you can take the grate off of yours (ooo er) so I can see exactly what your setup is like. I'm going to email your recommended guy for a very quick one word question also: 'Do I need a plummer'

To re-pressurise my boiler I just tell her that I'm off down the pub.

Thanks guys, I'm still on the hunt but I'm certain of what I'm looking out for. Hopefully my landlord has a clue. In the meanwhile Mark from Vaillant Service has been an absolute gent and confirmed my lack of need for a plumber by email. No charge. So he gets a free bump.

Check him out, mad skillz

bluequinn, black tap on left is where you fill from, chrome fitting on left is a non return valve(to stop water from your system contaminating the main water supply) to OP you need to find your filling loop hose, these have to be taken off the boiler to comply with the water regulations.

do not turn that GREY twirled knob, its attached to your safety blow off valve(it only ever come into operation, should your boiler malfunction and over pressurize itself)if you do turn it it will empty your system of any water in it all over your worktop until you turn it back
I've got a Vaillant turbomax VUX GB 242/1 boiler that's lost off of it's pressure (after bleeding a LOT of air) and needs refilling but I cant make out where the refil loop is at.
Pretty sure some of you fettlers out there will know how to help so I'll upload a pic of the pipe setup and hope for the best.
Second to that... anyone know a cheap guy in SW11 that can come around tomorrow?
Thanks in advance.
