I suggested back room at rainbow mainly for access.
Others have suggested hare n hounds, but it's not central. -

+1 for the rainbow courtyard
got a good dingy hipster feel, and a bar. -

Ab-so-fucking-lutley for the Rainbow.....
Booooooom - Rollapaluza in Digbeth! -

Hare and Hounds. Not city centre but probably closer for most people. Adam is a cyclist too.

For sure the back room of the rainbow and I want to enter with a few mates

Rainbow is too dingy and depressing these days. I reckon hare and hounds is perfect, big ol room upstairs. Cheap/free/easy to hire. Not too rammed with everday clientelle to have room for people who want to come specifically for the rolla.

King's Heath. Centre of the universe once again.

You could probably just turn the stage spotlights on.
I think the h+h is good though not central and not as easy to unload equipment.
I don't think it's free but im sure we could persuade adam. It would be good if we could do it downstairs in the back room (unikely) so that regulars/ people besides us could have a go too, good way to get people involved.
The upstairs of the island bar could be free or very cheap though, again, not ideal.
I'll have an ask around this week. -

From wiki:
Kings Heath is a mecca for Midland's cyclists, being both a short ride from the hustle and bustle of the city centre and an equal distance from the tranquil countryside where quiet, traffic-free roads stretch lazily toward the sun setting on the horizon (or Dickens Heath).
Here, people too old to live in Moseley, too snobbish for Stirchley and Selly Oak, polish expensive Italian-designed roadbikes in bay windows of overpriced terraced houses, and struggle to park their company cars. -

I thought it was all job centres, pound shops and packs of feral schoolkids with a dash of Maison Mayci

Prince of Wales Moseley
There's only one thing worse than living in Kings Heath...

Nah don't get me wrong, I love Kings Heath. My Nan lives there, I've been to look at few houses there. Lovely place. Good cheese shop too.

The Rainbow means that there is more space to lock bikes up, and even store them in the Rainbow warehouse. There's also the back of Prince Of Wales? I don't mind asking at BHX beers.
The spotted dog is too close to residential areas, and John wouldn't want to piss the Abasus crew off. -

Your road's nice, your house is lovely, but the High St is terrible.
-

Aren't all High Streets terrible? I suggested H&H as a venue to add to the list of possibilities as it would be suitable and convenient for some to get to. Didn't want to start a postcode war. Anywhere in Digbeth or the Bear in Bearwood would be good too.
-

I said H&H too last night at work with Hyper, but I think the consensus is Rainbow.
It's not a postcode war, just my opinion about an area that I remember fondly from years ago when I used to hang out in houses/flats around there, used to go see Roy Harper at the Red Lion, etc. I used to love KH. It's no better where I live, wasn't making it personal. -

What about custard factory? They could cover the pool and there's 3 bars there

I suggested that.
The little club thing with shutters next to the medicine bar is the perfect size and has a great sound system. I saw MIA there, was kind of sick.

Agreed. Don't know if anyone on here went to any of the Custard Jams put on by Dan at 20-24-26 (DFP probably knows/knew about it) but the last one was an ace mix of BMX jam and a quality night out

20-24-26 was ace! what happened to that place? I bought a wicked wheel from there once and they had all sorts of BMW stuff in the window.
I've given him a head up so chip in guys and i'll pass it on...
*"Hey dudes, pming you as I don't know who's Birmingham-based too well but you seem to be most active and recognisable names..
..so I have been one of the sort of stock DJs for Rollapaluza over the last few years and as you may or may not know the National Series has seen us visit Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff, Southampton, Plymouth and more since 2009. We are aware that Birmingham hasn't seen the Rollapaluza crew at any point and that there are people from the Midlands very keen to take part. We would like to put a National Series heat on in Birmingham in the next 4-6 weeks.
I haven't lived in Birmingham for many years now so even though I've got a couple of ideas my knowledge of ideal venues is probably a little bit outdated.. so this is just a quick message to ask you if you have any recommendations for a suitable place. We would need it to be central, easy to find, easy to get transport to and easy to load/unload equipment to/from. Typically we've done well at bars with a stage area and a good floor for the crowd, and we would be holding it most likely on a Wednesday or Thursday evening. We would be taking the door.
Any recommendations over the next couple of days would be great so we can get the ball rolling.
Cheers
Phil"*
