It has been 9 months since I last rode a 'proper bike'

I am utterly in love with my single speed Brompton.

Every time I get on it, which is several times a day, I feel like a child without a care in the world.

It handles so beautifully, effortlessly, accelerates really quickly and can dominate anything in heavy traffic. The best thing I have ever bought.

Aw, you are obviously slightly deranged in that the object of your affection is a Brompton, but I like the sentiment! Tried a bike that fits you?

but never, ever will they replace the 'real' size

I would love a Brompton also.

I'm going to buy a fold up bike of some description before the next Smithfield Nocturne to race against my brother.

I downgeared mine by 12 percent too, so i think it is 68 gear inches. Perfect for inner city riding.

As a point to note I have had my full size bike professionally fitted. The point is, with tyres so big it just cannot change direction as quickly and your centre of gravity is way too high. The Brompton is bascially like riding a BMX if you dont sit down.
