I kinda like mashing massive gears while trying to spin them as fast as possible. I think it is possibly because I have masocist tendencies when it comes to sport ... I ain't really enjoying myself unless I am in pain .. mainly because I like to tell "War stories" ... and I want these at least be loosely related to reality.

Anyway I was fantasizing on getting some chainrings for my new bike that weren't the usual 53/39 and I really want to go higher ... maybe 56 / 43 or something like that tbh fuck knows. I was looking and I found this ...

These guys do some great stuff. I really like the idea of crank shortening (repostin my own post), I should run someth ing like 160mm cranks on my road bike, according to them. You can buy these, but not in anything most would consider 'high end'.

Shortening a quality set of cranks to custom fit your leg length. Seems like a bloody good idea to me.

They also do a masssive range of cassettes, and adaptors. So you can upgrade your groupset without buy a new rear hub.

I just want to see how big of a gear I can push at a decent cadence on the flat ... so when I build up my next road bike I might get something ridiculous ... for the sake of it ... just to freak people out. TBH most of the time I ain't going up anything that serious. Fuck me most of the time I am just posing at the coffee shop.

As for the crank shortening ... I worked out using an online calculator that I should be using like 157mm cranks ... I usually use 172.5 or 165mm ... on my old mountain bike 180mm.

Their stuff looked really good. I was just googling, because I fancy myself pushing 57 / 11 of something ridiculously stupid. I had been drinking at the time when I started the thread and I wanted to start a silly topic for jokes.

SJS do a TA chainring that is 57, which means a 44 inside to keep the drop the same and I have a 11-21 cassette ... lets hope I don't hit anything over 12% otherwise I am in a world of hurt.

Dunno how I feel about carbon ... that is a big chainring ... but it is made from a material that doesn't look or feel like metal ... and at the end of the day I listen to metal ...
