bump.
I have a tiny broken power supply cable on a laptop. I have identified the problem and it would be very easy to fix if I could solder well, but I can't...
Same questions - does anyone have super soldering skills or know of a good place in central london that does?

thank you, I will try them

i can solder and have the kit... how fiddly / danger ridden is the job?

I need to replace the amplifier component of my old AKAI Amplifier, can anyone desolder pins to a circuit board and re-solder the new component in? It needs some heat compound too.
Or does anyone know someone who can do this for a reasonable price?
Thanks for any help

Forgot to mention that I am of course willing to pay for someones expertise/time

Make sure whoever does it keeps a hold of the original insulators if there are any. They are sometimes a very thin slip of mica.

Whereabouts are you? Do you have the new component and some of the compound?

I am in Camberwell, I have the new component, but no compound (but sure I can source some)

Dredging this thread up. I just made a DIY guitar effects pedal kit and it’s not working. Simple circuit: two pots, two sockets, four resistors, couple of capacitors, couple of transistors...
Anyone fancy looking over it for me in exchange for a few beers?

I'd be happy to.. but I live in Edinburgh :( can you post some high res pics and the schematic maybe?

Post a picture of it and the circuit diag? Maybe something obvious?
What's it supposed to do and what does it actually do? -

OK. Ready for some ugly soldering? As far as I can tell there are no unwanted joins here. But it’s certainly not pretty.

I have a Canon TC-80N3 remote that I’d like to modify. I would like to do this:
http://www.camerahacker.com/Canon_Accessory/N3_E3_Convert.php
I spose I could do this myself, but I’d have to buy a soldering iron and the last time I remember attempting to solder something was about 13 years ago and I destroyed the thing I was working on. Even though this is a relatively simple procedure, I'd rather not risk that with my canon remote. And I'd probably end up doing a shite job too.
I'd supply the parts. Anyone know of an electronics shop I can get this done in?
