Workshop in shoreditch for old bike
Would your Mum consider other, less fashionable, areas of London's famous London?
-
• #3
BLB. They're very helpful in there.
-
• #4
Whats actually wrong those hubs are very simple to work on.
-
• #5
or shop 14
-
• #6
Of the two noted (legal) bicycle retailing types in that there region, I've always found BLB to be immeasurably less head-up-arse to deal with.
-
• #7
Doesn't digger help in a place around there?

Platini - I live in uni halls by spitalfields.
lynx - Unfortunately I have no idea how these hubs work so finding it hard to figure out what exactly went wrong. The metal cylinder itself is lose, there is a lot of friction when turning the wheel and its running as though it were fixed (back wheel turns as pedals do). That is all I know!
hartxander & bodie- thanks ill check out BLB but I imagine 14 would be too expensive.

Its a 3 speed sturmey archer... Not sure why people are suggesting fashionable fixie-havens?
Bicycle Magic FTW. Greatorex St.

The OP wanted the closest thing to Liverpool Street. Hackney's a bit further out than either BLB or shop Whoreteen.

• #12
Whats that place beside Hackney Farm? Is that the Hackney Cyclist place?
-
• #13
..oh, yeah. Fair enough,
-
• #14
There's a (cannabis) farm in Hackney?
-
• #15
Nah, just depressed pigs and ducks and shit like that.
-
• #16
The police are bound to be depressed in Hackney. It's a pre-requesit.
-
• #17
Busy though....

Bike Yard East at the City Farm on Hackney Rd, or Look Mum No Hands on OId St.
Or DIY - look at sheldon brown's site for adjustment instructions. These hubs are built like locomotives and hardly ever break. Most problems are down to cable adjustment or cone adjustment.

I find them genuinely helpful. The bloke who's always located behind a laptop, the fella with the beard who's always beavering away at a frame in the workstand. They've always given me great advice and assistance.

There are few places in London that will have one of them open, but I've known Sam at LMNH to take a crack at it.
Hey
I'm a proud owner of a 60s Raleigh Dawn Roadster but it seems that my 3 speed Sturmey Archer hub has died on me. Not an expert with a bike like this but the hub has come lose and the back + front cogs seem to be working like a fixed but with a lot of friction (I realise that makes little sense).
Anyway, I cant afford to get the tube/bus to uni so am in need of a bike workshop somewhat close to liverpool street station / brick lane area. Anyone have any suggestion? Somewhere cheap and easy? Help is much appreciated.
