Not had a chance to read these fully, but probably not a bad place to start:
More details about the papers you will be critiquing would be useful (e.g. what field?)

I can help. And I'd be happy to.
The BMJ website has some help:
http://www.bmj.com/content/315/7109/672.extract
http://resources.bmj.com/bmj/readers/how-to-read-a-paper/Rather than talk on here, when's it due. Ah. 6 days.
Do you want to meet in the day for an hour or so? -

Aram. Given the timescale I'm not sure how useful this is but somewhere in the house is a book called Bad Science by Ben Goldacre. The first few chapters give a really good lay laymans explanation on how to interpret scientific data.
Good luck!

Long shot I know, but you aren't by any chance doing an OU module on research methods and statistics are you? Did one last year and had a similar qual/quant critique assignment I had to hand in around the end of January....

At a guess DanS is probably on the money.
But if your asking for help, does there mean there is some thing missing in the pre qualification for the module/course or a bringing everyone up to the same level?
From experience pain in the cerberal cortex trying to figure out what poeople want znswered.
Just a shot in the dark but I am supposed to write two papers 1500 words each to critique a quantitative and a qualitative research article in the next six days. I am completely overwhelmed plus I have raging Attention Deficit problems which are making it all ten times more confusing than it needs to be.
So...... Is there anyone here that has experience with this stuff and a couple of hours in the next few days, that might be able to lend a hand in explaining how to do this. I think I'm making it way harder than it needs to be. This is a purely novice beginner assignment, But I'm drowning in statistical language and a lack of organization! I'll freaking pay someone for their time!
If not hey....Had to ask.
