Weight comments when training is going well...

  • I am getting sick and tired of people telling me that I've lost too much weight or I am too skinny. You wouldn't tell somebody that they're too fat at work would you?

I'm running and riding hard and eating healthily so I have gone from being a fit and healthy but "padded" person to a fit and healthy person with minimal body fat. Its not as if I've been making myself puke...I'm still well into the normal range in terms of BMI (in fact, closer to overweight because I'm a big shouldered bloke).

I'm really happy with my sporting achievements in the last year but I wish my colleagues would stop telling me that I am too skinny! What do they think I should do? Start eating less healthy food or stop doing the sports that I love? I'm 6'2" and about 14 stone ffs!

I think I'm getting it particularly badly because I peaked for a climbing expedition in December that never happened and I'm also a little self conscious about how I look so I might be a bit oversensitive. Summer training will be starting soon and I've also stopped doing weights for a while to get over a recent neck injury.

Grrr...does anybody else get this when they're training is going well? I was brought up to think that it was impolite to comment on somebody's appearance unless they were a close friend or relative.

  • "Fuck off fatty" should work

  • Are you getting angry cos of the 'roids messing with your testosterone levels?

    ; )

  • I guess there is quite a contrast if you compared the unfit overweight me of about 5 years ago with fit muscly me (used to do quite a lot of weights) of two years ago to the cyclists body that I'm developing now...

I actually haven't changed weight in about 6 months...I just seem to be getting denser!

  • I had loads of comments that I was gaunt when for the first time in my adult life my BMI was technically within normal parameters. Admittedly like the op, I am thick set and do a lot of exercise.

It does start to grate when people continually make comments when all you are doing is bein healthy.

But I get similar treatment for not drinking, so maybe it's peoples way of not feeling so bad about their own poorly controlled weight.

The amazing thing is that nobody has commented on the cracking pair of tits I've grown due to the roids!

  • people keep saying I've gotten really skinny lately but I'm also 14st and 5' 10"

really it's just down to the fact I now wear form-fitting cycling clothes to work (size m/l) whereas I was wearing a lot of my old t-shirts (size xxl) up until early dec as I hadn't bought many smaller sized clothes yet.

  • How can someone think that's underweight?

It's positively fat fat fatty fatty fat fat.

    Or just about bang on.

i'm 6ft1 and have ballooned to 66 kilos when i should be 64

i'm not underweight even at 64kg that's what i weigh when i cycle a fair bit but still eat more or less what i want (which happens to be a reasonably healthy diet with the odd fat/sugar based cake).

the average male has increased 17lbs over the last 10 years.

  • underweight/overweight is dependent on body type. mesomorphic, polymorphic or ectomorphic

  • ^Fuck off skinny!

  • My mass is 70 Kg (clothed) and am 170 cm tall. I have some weigh to go.

  • My mass is 70 Kg (clothed) and am 170 cm tall. I have some weigh to go.

    Muscle weighs more than fat.

  • Higher density you fucking 'tard. I've told you this before.

  • HTFU and ask them to stop instead of whining on a forum about it.

  • I take it the avatar is'nt accurate.

  • Higher density you fucking 'tard. I've told you this before.

  • Wow, who'd have thought forumengers would be so image conscious :)

This is a bit like what my neighbours say about my cat. Apparently he is too skinny but my vet thinks that he is a rare example of a healthy weight cat and my neighbours cats are too fat.

  • You can say that Jay. But I know you made that mistake accidently.

  • I would also hazzard that much of your muscle has moved to your legs, which probably most collegues don't notice, so although you weigh the same your composition has probably changed somewhat more noticably

  • Worst "I am thinnner than you" post evar.

    I wish I had the OP's problems.

    Including the being 6ft2 bit.

  • My mass is 70 Kg (clothed) and am 170 cm tall. I have some weigh to go.

85Kg for the price of 170cm.

    Better value :)

  • ^Fuck off skinny!

i'm normal. it's the pie eaters that make me look thin.

  • I would also hazzard

Which one: Daisy, Bo or Luke?

  • Mmm, Daisy Duke.

  • I was reading that people with longer legs should naturally cycle faster.

I demand a head start over you lanky cheating bastards in my next event.
